Ammo crafting and ammo weight in Fallout: New Vegas

I love to make the custom rounds, but I don't love the weight it adds on in hardcore mode. My advice? Carry around empty casings, primers, powder, lead, the works. Even drained energy weapon ammo and flamer tanks don't weigh anything! Hardcore mode basically forces a division of weight distribution in the game for ammo.

For example: a .308 round weighs 0.055, and to make a .308 round, you need a casing, obviously, lead, powder (rifle specific), and a primer (also rifle specific, but large). This is 4 items total, (not counting the 15 lead needed). All of these things weigh nothing, so you can carry around as much as you damn well please, and it's recommended as well. My point is, if you want to carry around thousands of rounds like you used to in Fallout 3, keep them all in broken down form, so that you can make them when you need them at a moment's notice, therefore allowing you to technically carry just as much ammo as you want of any type! Just keep them broken down to avoid overencumberance.

You CANNOT reload this weapon until after you've spent the whole clip. Would this not drive you insane?
