It's probably because most people just saw that the thread wasn't on /v/ any more and assumed it died.

It's concerning too, considering if you look at the point the thread was moved, discussion halted entirely to talk about what to do from here on out. Not to mention almost every disingenuous ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ on /vg/ suddenly dogpiled the thread.
