[012] Goodbye Garry's Mod

Hello everyone,

It's time. We are moving over to Rust as a group. The server will maintain the name, but we'll be playing a different game. In the next little while, the Gmod server will be coming down, and replaced with a Rust server. Look for that information right here.

If you don't have Rust, I'd recommend buying it, it's definitely worth $20. If you cannot afford it, please do what you can to save and join us when you can.

[011] Administration System Changes

Hello all,

Unfortunately due to broken plugins and outdated code, Quantum has had to switch over to ULX/ULib for administration. This will require some tweaking, and there will be exploits for a few days, but it'll all end up working out soon. If you require a promotion (and you are listed on the staff page), you must be in game at the same time as either myself (King Jejjer) or PANDEMIC for the time being.

It's a big change, but it has fixed all of our issues!

[010] FastDL Coming

We're bringing a lot of stuff back, slowly, to try and avoid issues this time. This time however, we're adding FastDL so we can get players online even faster! This should boost our population a bit, even with it just in the title.

Also SCars are coming back.

And Pac3.

Yay.

[009] Addon Streamlining

Hi everyone,

We have decided that the best course of action for making Quantum better overall is the removal of SCars. Some may think that's a bad idea, but there is sound reasoning behind it, and there's been a lot of thought put into this.

SCars are fun. They're entertaining, people seem to enjoy them... but only for a couple of seconds. Soon after they're abandoned, taking up space on the map, and being a source of lag and annoyance for just about everyone. This, however, is not the main reason for removing them. The SCars make up an enormous amount of loading time for new players that join, and the amount of people that really use them doesn't justify making them wait this long.

I don't think it's much of a loss in playability, but it should considerably speed up server loading times. If this upsets you, I suggest you think about how often you really use them, because I barely see anyone in this group using them at all.

Aside from that, I only removed the Tornado addon because it's practically useless most of the time, and I'm thinking of putting on CS: Source weapons. Not sure yet. If you have further suggestions, don't forget about the discussion section!

[008] Staff Reorganization

Hello everyone,

Today, I have decided to take a new direction with the ranking system we have here on Quantum. I will be taking suggestions from anyone willing to provide input, but I have a basic new structure I would like to follow:

Respected will be changed to Member.

Uppermost ranks will be combined to form the Council.

Council members will have specific roles and will have managing power over the other ranks. All big decisions will be made by the council.

All ranks will be given a review of their abilities and permissions.

The goal of this is to keep the ranks more organized with a clearer authority structure included. We need more staff, and we need the impossible: Quality members, but found and promoted quickly. We'll have to keep on our toes. If anyone has any input please let me know.

[007] New Staff & Upcoming Content!

Hello everyone,

We'd like to welcome a new staff member to the roster, taking up the position of moderator: EANISR. Along with him, a big congratulations to PΛNDEMIC for becoming Quantum's very first Super Admin! There are more promotions to come in the following weeks, so make sure you get your applications in and GET PEOPLE TO JOIN THE GROUP!

As far as content goes, SCars is coming back onto the server following a brief issue with the latest Garry's Mod update, and some more features are going to be added slowly over the next week to test them out. If there are any questions or concerns, feel free to post them on the group page. Some of the potential content may include:

Half-Life 2: Episodes 1 & 2 Content

Portal 1 & 2 Content

More Weapon Packs

Prop Damage

If you have any further suggestions, don't forget to post them in the corresponding discussion section, located on the main page.

[006] Back to default maps!

Hello everyone,

We have decided to switch back to default maps for a number of reasons. That being said, instead of flatgrass, we're going to use gm_construct! It's a little more diverse. At least it has some water, anyhow.

Just a reminder on the side, don't forget, get people to join the group[/b]!

[005] Changeover to gm_bigcity!

Hello everyone,

Tonight, at the time of this announcement, the server will be switching over to the gm_bigcity map from gm_flatgrass for what we currently believe to be a permanent duration. If you're missing the addon, it can be found here:

http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=105982362

This will be a pretty significant change, and will require some instructions for the admins/mods/respected from the higher ups, since management is much different on a map with so many places to hide.

If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to write them in the discussion section on the group page, or feel free to contact me (King Jejjer) directly.

As always, DON'T FORGET TO INVITE PEOPLE TO THE GROUP!
