That's an awesome idea, Grimmturd, though I doubt Valve would see it. But freeing up inventory space would likely free up some of their database too. Not sure if it'd make much difference in lightening the server load, but it couldn't hurt.

Steam should make a recycling bin feature for every account that can essentially donate a background to it and, perhaps after it's reached a certain quantity, spits out some random one, or a coupon, or an emoticon. something that would make it worth doing for the many common backgrounds. They aren't making much, if anything, from the micro-transaction fee on those $0.03 backgrounds that everyone seems to have in abundance. All it does is fill inventory space.

You can request a few things without any donation as well, so don't be afraid to grab a couple things you might like.
