Holy Poop A New Guide

And it's not for TF2!

I'm a big fan of Town of Salem myself, so here ya go!

http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1180779383

On the note of Jungle Inferno for TF2, I like the idea, but I think giving the Pyro a weapon that covers their one weakness (mobility) actually might make them too strong. I don't know if I'll pick the game back up at all.

Small Existential Crisis (maybe?)

Once again, the name says it all. I'm sorry to trouble you all with this, and warning! This is gonna be a long one.

So, I've recently been trying to figure out what 'art' means to me. This is in the wake of games like Danganronpa, Life is Strange, Inside, and (well, it's technically an anime) Sword Art Online. I've been a little confused as to why it exists at all. Why do we, as a society, have things that seek to change the way we feel? Why should we care about the message of these things (or, in the case of Inside, the lack of one (Creepy blob monster) . I don't really have an answer, but they all seem to point, more or less directly, to hope.

Allow me to have a non sequitur moment here, though I promise I'll get back to the point soon. (Warning: possible melancholy ideas ahead.) While I was shoveling some bark today, I thought of an idea for a book or short story or whatever that I know I'll never write (nor do I know if it already exists). The story is about basically a zombie apocalypse, but the virus can only be housed in a certain chemical in the brain, the one responsible for fear. If this chemical remains stagnant in the head for long enough (basically, if they're not afraid), the immune system can destroy it. In normal circumstances, it's not powerful enough to exert control over anyone. However, after the death of its host, it can reengage and reanimate the host, provided that enough of it exists. The point is, this zombie apocalypse consists only of those people who died afraid.

This got me thinking. Why would survivors in this situation (actually in any zombie apocalypse) keep going? The world is crashing down around them. I realized, though, that they have hope to change things. This can be expanded out farther. Why would a parent sacrifice themselves to save their child? Because they have hope for a future they could never see. Why would the kid in Inside always keep running forward, no matter how dangerous it was? In the hopes that the outside would be a better existence than what he lives in. It's all down to hope for a better world. This is why Morpheus won the demonic challenge in Sandman (A graphic novel), because there's always something to be hopeful for. Always something better to strive for.

But that has a limit, right? If the world was perfect and we lost that ability to hope, to aspire to something, we'd get bored. Life wouldn't have meaning. I like to think about the melancholy, dark part of life (case in point), but I never liked horror games. I believe that this is because I want to see a world like ours in my entertainment, where things go wrong but things go right too. I saved Kate without breaking a sweat in Life Is Strange because I'd experienced almost the same thing in real life. This world has problems, yeah, but I'd like to think that it's a more perfect world than anything else. There is balance. There's always hope for every moment of despair, freedom from every chain in your mind.

I'm stuggling to see the meaning of life, I suppose. I don't know anything about how I fit into this world, but I've got a drive to become great because I can still hope for a better tomorrow.

Man, I know that was a long one, and I'm sorry for taking up so much of your time. I know it's a cardinal sin to post an opinion on the Internet, but I'd like to think that this group consists of people who appreciate the importance of thought, and I just wanted to get it out there. If you want to comment on it, you can leave one in the post's comment box, the group's, or my profile's.
Thank you for listening, and sorry for rambling a little bit.

Another Try at Streaming!

So, I will be using Steam Broadcast (hopefully) to stream a couple games, and I want to try it out soon, see if you guys want to watch. However, there are a few issues that we need to cover first, and I'd like your guys' opinions on it.

First, what time and day? I work on Pacific Standard Time, so all of my time values will be based on that.

A. 7-9 PM Friday (aka tonight)
B. 7-9 PM Sunday
C. 3-5 PM Sunday
D. 8-10 PM Saturday

And secondly, which game should I play?

1. Awesomenauts (High skill, I'm pretty good at it, good for streaming)
2. Game Dev Tycoon (Rather boring to watch, but I want to play more of it)
3. Binding of Issac (I'm not great, OK for streaming)
4. Nuclear Throne (Same as BoI)
5. TF2 (Not a huge fan since the Phlog got buffed, but I'll give it a shot)
6. Undertale (Not great for streaming, but if you want to see me play it)

Please leave your answers to both questions in the comments, and I look forward to seeing you at the stream!

Dark Days

Well, this might be the end to happy times for a while.

I have (had, I don't know) a dear friend who has been going (has gone) through some tough times over the last 6 months. She's smoked, drank, had sex, gotten high, sent nudes, and generally fucked up her life a lot. It's been my self-appointed duty to keep her happy and, well, alive. She's been on the brink of suicide for months, and also in and out of rehab.

Did I mention she's 14?

Though I haven't had physical contact with her in a long time (She lives in Alabama, I'm in Washington), I try to skype message her as often as possible. This time, though, I think it's done. She was really upset, and she cut the conversation off on me before I really had a chance to help her get through her new problems (and recurring ones). Jesus Christ, I felt like I'd been defusing a bomb.

The worst part is, I don't know if she did it. I don't know if I ever will. But I'm never going to give up on her.

Never.

So please, guys, all I want to say is this. Value the ones around you. No life is ever trivial, no life should be wasted. Fight your hardest to keep them around. Please. I can't give my strength to the whole world, and that is a frightening prospect. So please, help me do it. Cheer up everyone you know, make sure they know they're special. Every life is worth fighting for.

Officially Ending Guide-making Career!

Well, this shouldn't really be a suprise, seeing as I've not written a guide in months. Anyway, I've finally decided that, for the most part, I'm not going to write another guide unless I have really strong inspiration and motivation (which doesn't happen often).

My current creative energies are going into developing a video game (VERY early planning, but it's coming along quite quickly).

As for those of you who want more guides, this group has a discussion thread where users can post their own guides! If you want me to review an unpleasant or unrelated post or help spread your own guide, send me a message and I'll see what I can do. But I now leave the Guide community in your hands. Have fun with it. See what you like to do, and do it well. That's how you get popular. No formula, no secret spell, no human sacrifice required (thankfully).

Have fun with it, guys! I want to see what you guys can make.

Keys for Keys?

Through trading, I have recently come upon 2 Mann. Co Crate Keys (commonly called Keys).

However, being a believer in the Gun Mettle Hype (and having made a killing selling my GM crates), I want to unbox a single GM crate. To do so, I would like to exchange a Key for one of the GM keys if anyone has one.

If you are interested in this trade, please leave a comment below and/or send me a trade offer.

Thanks,
Digitic

A Sad Day For Nintendo

Apparently, Nintendo President Satoru Iwata passed away on the 11th. It's very sad, and the link below is to a compilation of fan-art commemorating his passing.

I hope that this does not unduly affect Nintendo, and I want them to continue making the same, great style of games that they did when Mr. Iwata was still alive.

http://cheezburger.com/568069
