It's usually their personality or family dynamics; wolves who are more submissive to you (or dominant, depends), or cautious, will tend to growl, but it's more of a behavioral thing. It doesn't effect the affinity or anything.

Age 7 is the max age. Elder wolves cannot be played in multiplayer as ironwolf mode is enabled, and everytime they sleep is an increased possibility of death. I only have an age 6 wolf at the moment, as my elder wolves recently died.
