The Doctor was originally known as the Timeless Child. A native Gallifreyan Shobogan traveller named Tecteun discovered the child as a young girl next to a portal to another reality. Tecteun adopted her as her own and discovered that the Child had a capacity to regenerate her body indefinitely.
