Man I really wanted to enjoy this game.. I loved Return to Castle Wolfenstein. It was awesome. It didn't take itself too seriously.

All I'm going to say about this game story wise, is it takes itself way too seriously.

Gameplay wise it's alright. I'd say a bit less enjoyable than RTCW. I didn't like the alternate gameplay sections (looking for random items in the friendly base, etc). It's also FPS locked to 60.

I try to force myself to play it, but everytime I do I stop after 1 or 2 missions because the game can't stop trying to shoehorn in this bad (imo) story, and the gameplay itself isn't good enough to keep me wanting to play. Game just isn't for me. I will be finishing it, then probably never touching it again. I will replay RTCW again next time I want to play a Wolfenstein game.

I got the game on clearance for ~$5CAD. And I WOULD recommend it if you really like the series, and just want to try it. I don't really regret the purchase, just don't like the game.

It's the premier vehicle combat simulator/action game. It has a horrible business model, but nothing tops it right now. (I haven't played DCS because I feel like you need a stick/HOTAS to get the most out of that game)

(First let me say i would pick neutral if that was an option.)

Ok... IDK if it's a me problem, but this is NOT like bf4 or 3. Maps/gameplay end up feeling more like CoD, theres a limited selection of vehicles, and i just feel it's over-hyped. The commercials make it clear what playerbase they are trying to cater to this time. Also needing online connectivity to play single player? Oh and i encountered some lighting bugs on some maps (especially the NYC one) IDK if its HDR or what, but some areas of the map were white bright and i could barely see. I tried messing with lighting/HDR settings

It's a decent game. Nothing i would spend $100 canadian for, Although i probably will hold off on the return and give it another go in a week, Not reccommending at this price, but buy it if you really REALLY need to play a new battlefield game.

I guess if i can describe my complaint best, it would be: In bf1/4/even 5 you spawned in, and it felt like you were part of this huge battle. Now you spawn in and it kind of feels like a CoD deathmatch lobby with some vehicles. I tried using the sledgehammer on tons of props/buildings around the maps, and barely anything was destructible.

Edit: The game is just mid. It's ok. Not bad. I'm sure in 6 months there will be more content, and it will feel complete. It's just not on the same epic levels as 3 or 4 or 1. I chose not to return the game because I AM having fun with it.

Also seems like i really hit a nerve with some people in the replies. lol.

Edit edit: I came back with different outlook, played a few more hours, and i will say i still stand by what i said: Feels more of a cod like movement shooter, destruction is very unconsistent, and you need online to play campaign (which was kinda lame, but still worth the time imo)

That being said, it is a fun game, and its way better than 2042. I changed my review to recommended. I still would wait for a sale

3rd edit: They really really need a huge map with boats and planes and all that. It wont let me change my review back to negative

Game has come a long way since release, and the modding community has done fantastic work. Definitely an ARMA title worth the money

Really fun and polished stealth-action experience. Definitely recommend. It is nice to play the games that came before to really understand the universe/lore though

I will not repurchase this game based purely on the fact that even on 50% off sale, it cost around $60 to buy this game with all the DLCs. Online is dangerous to play as well. Hackers can gain pretty deep access to your computers functions through this game

edit: Let me be clear.. The game itself is an awesome Call of Duty. I have great memories of playing zombies with friends as a young teen. I do not recommend buying the game though because of reasons stated above.

IDK why people are upset with this DLC.. Honestly maybe the only thing is they could have made the map a little bit smaller but more dense with enemies/landmarks. The bosses are tough, but none of them felt super cheap so far (I i still have the last 2 or 3 bosses to kill) The bosses are all modelled very nicely and have some pretty cool effects. Not my absolute favorite Fromsoft DLC, But still definitely worth the money, and by no means is it bad. (9/10)

Honestly the best way to play 'Return to Castle Wolfenstein' in 2024 on a modern PC
