Damn you capcom for making me want to have children sooner when I can't even afford to quadpay a dominos pizza. I know how brutal having kids too early is (look at our parents). But if capcom influenced at least one Japanese man and woman to have a child to combat their birthing crisis, hell even a westerner, then the game accomplished its mission. I'm a sucker for autonomous AI and robots slowly going through existential transformation (NiER, NIKKE, GitS, Persona 3 , etc) and this also does the trick. Besides that, it is a callback to the simple PS3/Xbox 360 era of games, sort of like a more endearing dead space with robots. Dad Space as is the common colloquialism for this game. Pretty simple, which isn't a con at all, rather a pro in many cases. In fact, it gets progressively more intuitive as you play with more options for attacks and customizations. The dynamic-duo system where you both upgrade and progress feels really good, especially the tandem hacking/shooter combos. There's weight and impact and the game is gorgeous with its environment, enemy and character designs, and particle effects A textbook example of great linear game design and progression. But for me, the game shines brightest in the quite moments at base where you and Diana talk and as you progress and it starts to resemble a real home for Diana. This game is Capcom's masterclass if you are outside of the RE ecosystem.

Every time I play this game it warms my heart and hits me right in the feels. Not in a sad way, but in a happy way that makes a 200 lbs 26 year old black man feel warm and fuzzy all around. This is most definitely a GOTY contender and deserves its flowers. A perfectly lengthen ride that will have you ditching your contraceptives in a heart beat for just an ounce of wholesomeness and joy which Diana provides as a little adoptive robo daughter...just be careful though. Real kids are DEFINETLY NOT the same, makes you wanna comm more often than not but nonetheless. The most wholesome game I've ever played in quite some time.
