What's not to like? You have sabers and you can beat them!

This is a fun little turn-based RPG that is filled with lots of quirky humor and goofy jokes, but definitely worth the time. The combat isn't super involved but you do need a strategy to get past the battles. My only wish would be for this to have controller support so you could couch game with it. This is very much a couch gaming game. I'd definitely try other titles from this developer.

Revised review: I really like this game and think the developers have done a great job resolving issues and keeping up with the patches. I'd like to see something else as far as enemies though, but I really enjoy playing the game. The community can be pretty cool too--random hugs and handshakes are a cool thing in today's toxic online environment.

It's a shame the game is not really supported any longer--there is a lot of cool things they could do with this, such as encorporating some of the cannon book content. I enjoyed the single player mode for a while, but the 4-player mix and match is pretty cool.

First off, I'm a Final Fantasy fan--I love the series. I played the original on NES and was blown away by the story and fighting style. I've played all of the America-released series numerous times. As for FF6, I owned this game on the SNES when it first came out and the ORIGINAL version was by far my most favorite console game. Even more so than 7. I don't know how many times I've replayed it. THIS version is crap. I absolutely don't like the updated fighting menus and wish they would have left well enough alone. The story line still holds up 30+ years later,. but the menu options and optimization for mobile is BS. I was really looking forward to revisiting this game on PC but it's not playable because I can't scroll down to see the menu options during fights and that's primarily what you'll be doing. Seems like someone at Square should have play tested this before selling it. Maybe they did and just didn't care because they know people who love the franchise will just buy it.

First, this uses Windows Live which is not even a viable service anymore. Forget any co-op--spent 90 minutes applying several "fixes" that would allow the game to simply run and when it finally did, we couldn't connect more that 2 players to a squad. We tried lots of different things and nothing worked. I received this as a gift and fortunately it was only $6, but it's normally $20 when not on sale. Definitely not worth this frustration. Steam should be curating these games and not allowing them to be sold unless the content can actually be played as advertised--that means co-op and not just the single player aspect. 96 minutes of main menu time--worth every penny.....

I keep hearing the term "Souls-like" in regards to this game (the reference being Dark Souls)--I never played DS but if it's anything like this game I probably never will. I really like most of the aspects of this game and would recommend it (especially when playing with one or two friends), but the boss fights are insanely stupid and maddeningly difficult. It seems the developers care more about figuring out dodge pattern recognition in boss fights instead of giving you a fair but tough fight, that make you feel like you actually accomplished something afterward. The bosses have 3 or 4 special abilities they use in either rapid succession (the Ent is one of my personal favorites) that give you zero chance to either heal yourself or revive a downed partner. Dodging doesn't always work (you get hit anyway). After beating the bosses (I've beat 9 or 10 in two-player co-op), I felt more irritated than having any sense of accomplishment. There are too many status ailments that can really limit your game play (infection makes you stop running when you cough and anything in this game will catch you at that point). When running, you immediately start walking when performing any healing ability--potion or crystal, so things catch up to you and will break the healing mechanic. Instead of being able to upgrade weapons that progressively do more damage, it seems like the enemies level up with you and your weapons. I'll continue to play this more and will append my review when I start playing through more of the campaign. If you loved DS, then maybe you'll enjoy this. If this were tweaked to scale back the boss abilities to the difficulty level, I would probably recommend it. At this point, I honestly can't and I understand how much people put into making this game. It's almost there in my opinion.

I bought and played the original when it was released and loved every minute of it. Half Life holds a very special place in my gaming experiences. Black Mesa is a fantastic reimaging of Half Life and I thoroughly enjoyed playing through it. A lot of changes to level design which were welcomed--since replaying the original numerous times, I knew what was coming next but there were always a few surprises in each level. The dialog is funny and I love how the development team nicely ties in the Black Mesa incident to the 7 hour war and Half Life 2 (which I will replay again because of this game and, hey, I have lots of time on my hands thanks to Covid-19). I was skeptical about the remake and it was much different than the beta version the team released a few years ago. Worth $20! I'd love to see the team do a remake of Blue Shift and Opposing Force! Just a thought. I would definitely recommend playing this version if you ever played the Half Life2 series but never played the original because of the graphics--you'll like it a bunch! Listen to the radio chatter, the conversations between the soldiers, and especially the emergency broadcasts from the security vehicles. The art work on the walls were also a nice touch.

I'm a little late to the KF2 party, but I really enjoy this game. You can play solo or jump on-line and play with a group. Most of the community has been really cool to play with too. My son and I play this quite a bit and there are plenty of things to try and figure out before you get really good at surviving each level. It gets progressively harder as you add more players and you definitely need to carry your share of the load each level or you won't be able to buy bullets, armor or better guns--this is NOT Left 4 Dead where higher tier weapons spawn in safe rooms. If you have no money, you are SOL unless the others you are playing with are generous enough to throw some spare cash at you to help you survive. The levels get progressively harder so you definitely need better weapons. I don't care for the buying new weapons skins, characters, or outfits, but you don't have to (it does help the developers make more maps and seasonal content though). Buy it--play it--you'll enjoy it. There's nothing better than a snippy French woman offering advice between rounds or giving you some useful information about the particular Zed that killed you.
