Fading system Maps?

In Ship mode are Systems that you've previously fully explored but have not passed through in a long time supposed to revert back to their undiscovered nature? I had reason to backtrack through the network and found most of the early nodes no longer had mapping info and each had to be re discovered to reveal it once more, couldn't find any info on this so wondered if its supposed to be like that?...

Space Haven - Version 1.0.3 Released as Stable.

Greetings, Spacefarers!

We have made some quality of life improvements, fixed some bugs and put together a new patch. The newest version is now 1.0.3.

Patch Notes

QOL: Improved on the ships in hyperspace icon in the starmap.
QOL: Improved on the mini-starmap showing the target for missions.
QOL: Made the Large Power Node load display unified and not change depending on rotation.
QOL: Added more information to dispensers when selected.
VISUAL: Removed the blocked jobs icons on an unclaimed area on the player ship.
VISUAL: Added an icon on top of character when operating the shields console for the targeting jammer.
BUG FIX: Fixed a bug with the Path of Sin mission failing when the Flaming Sword ship was not left quickly enough.
BUG FIX: Fixed bug where a refugee could sit at the operations console and block hailing.
BUG FIX: Fixed a bug with repairing a hangar with a hull breach.
BUG FIX: Fixed an issue with a built farming station giving a deliver cargo mission and then failing a previous mission if the cargo was received by the player.
BUG FIX: Fixed an issue with when a crew member had a crate in hand when fetching food. Leading to them acquiring too many crates overall.
BUG FIX: Fixed a bug with a facility not being built on a second ship if there was no storage built on it.
BUG FIX: Fixed a problem with the research station and the research workbench.
BUG FIX: Fixed an issue with a crate on the floor and the path to the blueprint was blocked.

Extreme slowdown on Ryzen 5 Gigabyte B550M under Win11 rev 23H

Hi. Has anyone else experienced a severe slowdown on stated hardware after hours of gameplay? It occurs all of a sudden and resembles SSD error/bottleneck. The SSD has been swapped out for one with heatsink yet the problem remains on the newly loaded box. After a reboot things go back to normal, usually. Board and component temperatures when playing fall within acceptable parameters. The problem manifested about the time 'Station Mode' - which is fantastic! - was implemented....

Hire Crew - No Option?

I was able to secure a 100 (perfect) relationship score with the Civilian faction and their ships all show the option Hire/Dismiss crew. I drafted a crew member, flew to one of their ships showing the Hire/Dismiss crew icon and spoke with every crew member. I could dismiss any of my crew, but there were no options to hire any of their crew. The best I could do is offer them a gift. What am I missing? I would think if I have a perfect reputation score with them and their ship displays the "people" icon in...

After taking a breather we are resuming our updates. We have made some quality of life improvements, fixed some bugs and put together a new patch. The newest version is now 1.0.2.

Patch Notes

The Station hull door can now be dismantled if no hull is surrounding it.
QOL: Improved on the room blocked notification, which appears if path is blocked to a room.
QOL: Game Window should save the placement on the monitor it was last used on.
BUG FIX: Fixed an issue with a distress mission where the ship was not possible to be boarded.
BUG FIX: Fixed an issue where if a faction NPC ship was in the player fleet and the same faction had a distress mission the mission was incorrectly removed.
BUG FIX: Fixed an issue where the tutorial could freeze if the shuttle was moved outside of instructions when boarding a derelict.
BUG FIX: Fixed an issue with the launch an away mission window when UI scale was high.
BUG FIX: Fixed an issue with the first mission of Exodus fleet storyline crashing the game in rare cases.
BUG FIX: Fixed a wrong value being used in the food properties.
BUG FIX: Fixed problems with random derelicts.

Death by a thousand bugs.

This is a complex game that offers a deep and detailed simulation with a wide range of gameplay options and brutal difficulty spikes. Playing this feels like assembling an incredibly fragile and complex device that suddenly falls apart every time you're almost done.

Multiple NPCs from the same faction can give multiple quests to deliver the same item. Only one of those quests can be completed, and the inevitable failure of the second will reduce your reputation with their faction. The game doesn't warn you about this.
The shuttle paths are not saved. After loading, the enemy boarding team forgets who they were supposed to board and returns home. Your shuttles suffer from this too.
When loading the game, the dubuffs are bugged. You can get the permanent "insomnia" debuff, which makes your character lose the ability to sleep... forever.
When loading, the game forgets how many stacks of the "wound" debuff your character has and resets all stacks except one.
If you manually stop salvaging a derelict ship, remove your characters from it, and cancel all tasks on that ship, you'll repeatedly see your characters automatically return to the derelict ship only to stand there doing nothing. This is a hidden task (to just stand there) that somehow ends up on the task stack and can't be removed.
Characters get stuck in cryosleep pods.
Characters forget how to use furniture and get the "eating on the go" debuff.
After publishing the review, I discovered that the same thing can happen with beds. Characters sometimes just fall asleep on the floor.

Please note that many of these bugs persist even after saving and/or loading, meaning there is a possibility of permanently corrupting your save file.

Mixed

Space Haven gets a lot of things right. It looks good, runs without issues, and in all my time with it I didn't hit a single notable bug. The core idea is sound and the whole thing is put together well.
What surprised me was how quickly it lost me. I only played the story mode, but a few hours in the gameplay was already starting to loop back on itself. The crew members feel like warm bodies more than actual characters, barely any personality between them. I never found myself caring what happened to any of them.

That was the real problem: nothing kept pulling me forward. Not the story, not my crew. There was no reason to chase the next research unlock or push into the next mission that I could actually feel. At some point it just hit me that I'd probably seen most of what the game had to offer, even if that wasn't technically true.

If you're the type who gets satisfaction from optimizing systems and squeezing efficiency out of your setup, you'll probably get a lot more mileage out of this than I did. For me it was missing the thing that makes you actually give a damn: characters worth following, some atmosphere, a sense that moving forward means something.

This game is such a dumpsterfire of bugs and unexplained ♥♥♥♥-you secretly mechanisms. I'll just post 5 separate rants before I had a bitter enough taste to leave a negative review.

1.
Rogue bots are attacking you (and that civilian ship that's just standing there)
Oh boy, better charge up my warp to escape in case my defenses are insufficient.
> Bots swarm unarmed civilian ship
> It just stands there
> goes down to 30% hp while the dudes inside just casually walk around repairing random ♥♥♥♥
> calls me
> hey we are missing some resources. We will pay you squat in exchange for 3 hull block
> I watch ship get destroyed (I have no fighters and my ship is out of range, and ships apparently cannot propel themselves)
> Yay, more salvage!
> I wait for bots to attack me, my point defense shot them down before
> Point defense just stares into nothing as it gets obliterated and my dudes just walk around the ship casually
> Have to reload save

Turns out the operations console ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ needs to be manned for the automatic defenses to work, apparently.

And it's assigned to the one guy walking around on the other end of the ship for some ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ reason

And if you draft someone nearby and try to make them take the console, they are only willing to shoot at the console

And you cannot manually assign the job because it automatically selected some idiot and it does not let you manually click the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ button.

They made a specific button to set where a person is during a battle. And they still wander off.

I boarded the destoyed civvie ship to get its precious resources. I set transfer all. They do not transfer. Ever. And there is no manual way to make them move it.

3.
Aaaand I had to reload the save, because 2 stations at the objective were offering a retrieve item quest each as well as an impossible quest, so I accepted the retrieve item quest, then I selected the other retrieve item quest, but turns out the other retrieve item quest ceases to exist, and instead the impossible quest is given, whose failure cost it twice your bank account at a reward of 10% of what the penalty is for failing.

4. The military alliance is upset after searching me. -5 relations. They will not say why. Nowhere does the game tell you why.

5. So turns out ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ moving buildings actually costs a lot of resources in build tools, but the game does not at all ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ tell you this. Every char has like 400 tools in their inventory, and they use it up when they finish (re) building a thing. The game at no point of the move informs you that this costs resources. I had to click the dude, go into his inventory, and watch the tools little number go down when he finished pushing a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ radiator across the room.
