Dragon Quest 40th Anniversary

Hello there, lovely Dragon Quest fans!

May 27th 2026 marks the 40th anniversary of Dragon Quest, and we're going to celebrate that event right here on DQOPC.

I'm relatively new here on Steam, but I've been gaming all my life on a variety of different platforms. Being European meant I wasn't introduced to Dragon Quest until Dragon Quest VIII released on PS2. I never got around to playing that version of the game, but only a couple of years later, I fell in love with the remake of Dragon Quest IV on Nintendo DS... and I've been a fan of the franchise ever since.

I'm currently 42 years old, and in all my life, I've never loved anything as much as Dragon Quest. I hope to share that passion of mine with all of you for many years to come. Feel free to send a friend request if you want to talk in person or like befriending fellow DQ fans.

With that out of the way, let's focus on the big Anniversary.

We don't yet know how Square Enix is going to celebrate the event besides special merchandise, but there's a good chance they'll announce a new video game or two. Maybe they'll announce the next remake, maybe we'll get a new spin-off, or maybe we'll get our first look into Dragon Quest XII. Or maybe we'll get nothing and the milestone will pass us by like a fart in the wind. It's never wrong to temper expectations, but I'm hopeful we'll get something good out of it.

In any case, I'd like to invite all of you to enter the Group Chat on May 27th to celebrate and share your personal experiences with Dragon Quest. As the day goes along, we can all share and talk about any official announcements as well. And at the end of the day, I'll post a summary of all the news on the Announcements page of our group.
