Hi all,

I don't normally post announcements to everyone, I'm sure you have enough things popping up to deal with.

But in case you haven't heard, I'm writing an Alti-like game. Altitude is slowly dying off - literally one night I went online and there were zero other players... not a soul on any visible server.

And there appears to be no sequel or follow-up, so I'm going to make my own. This has been something I've wanted to do for several years, but I was hoping others would get there but I fear that they've left it too late. Apparently there is "some other project" but I'm not a part of that, nor do I want to cause confusion. This is my game, written by me, I haven't looked at any other code (including Alti's). It won't be identical, but it should be something that will be fun to play and in the Alti spirit.

Anyway, there is a "Dev Blog" up on www.ledow.org.uk if you want to track my progress, but the game is in very early days so you won't see much yet.

I also have a need for a graphic artist for the sprites, etc. Several people have offered help with that but, as yet, I've not seen a pixel (that's not to discourage them, they're probably just as busy as I am!).

The game targets Windows and Linux (Mac is possible but unlikely unless there's a lot of demand), and I'm hoping to be able to put out Android and even HTML5 ports (it all comes from the same codebase and I know it works, it's a matter of how well I can make it play on the primary platforms first). I am considering pushing it via Steam if I can.

Currently, the basic game mechanics are all there - everything you can do in Alti, you can do in my game. Networking is coming along, physics are there, graphics, sound are just waiting for content (I'm using free image resources at the moment, which the game turns into physics objects), etc. I can play a game of football against some primitive bots (but I don't have time to!) and I can join multiple people to the same server, I just need time to bring it all together into a polished game, and for that I need an artist.

Here's hoping we can finally do justice to the game that Altitude was by making the game that Altitude could have been for so many years.
