I have lost count of how many hours I've put into this game. Tens of thousands of hours. Easily more than 20k. Maybe more than I've spent sleeping in the past decade. To put it simply, Diablo 2 is the best ARPG ever made and what set the standard of the genre moving forward.
The moment you hear that first ambient sound in the Blood Moor, something primal wakes up in your brain. The best itemization in the ARPG genre. Rune words. Mercenaries. The chaos of a Sorceress melting through Act 3 on players 8. The religious experience of finding your first - and maybe last - Zod. None of this has aged. None of this will ever age.
I've been waiting for this to hit Steam forever. Now that it's finally here, there's only one other thing standing between me and dying a happy man, and it's a kart racing game from a PlayStation 1 disc called CTR.
If you've been living under a rock and never played Diablo 2 in the past 26 years: your life has a hole in it and you didn't know. Now you do.
