Vampire Crawlers (VC) is a fairly mid card game which has great ideas that's being pulled in two different directions to its own disparagement.

On one hand the dungeon crawling starts off small and condensed and fleshes out into something mechanically bigger with interesting nodes on the dungeon map, that in the earlier parts of the game have actual fun choices for deckbuilding.

This is quickly outpaced by the breakable nature of the cards themselves with a handful of Crawler cards being a notable fracture in the gameplay loop (Pugnala, Poppea). This pair alone I found myself using as my 2nd/3rd in every map after unlocking more starting crawler slots and quickly devolved into a degenerate gameplay loop:

First combat of each run - Activate crawler cards - Find spellbinder, Attractorb, reusable Wild card/gem, Mana books - With a few unlocked rerolls this took on average the first dungeon floor completion to put together.
You can now reach 30x combo every turn as Pugnala will constantly cycle your deck playing the many yellow cards, and with Attractorb to completely refill your entire hand, while Poppea sustains your early duration while also providing a reusable wild card in the form of Song of Mana.

The card combat quickly breaks down and gets more annoying instead of relaxing while still being mindless like the late game stages of Vampire Survivors (VS) when you have accumulated a stockpile of golden eggs. Unlike VS however, VC's problems are inherent to the integral gameplay loop and while you can disable upgrades via refunding the issues still persist even with only a single guaranteed crawler.

I really do enjoy the combo system and the mechanics of the combat, the combo scaling, card effects and mechanics etc, but has leaned too far and became too easily exploitable, and while it was fun the first couple of times it quickly became extremely repetitive and boring having the option to play 100's of cards every turn.

Gold as a resource is FAR too easy to obtain absolutely ludicrous amounts of thanks to both the overkill system and how Greed is stacked. Unlike combat stats, secondary stats like Growth (XP), Greed (Inc. Gold), and Luck all *permanently* stick around for the run when gained from card buffs like the Greed gem. Thanks to how easy it is to reach extremely high combo this results in maxing out your buffs (1000% cap) fairly early into a dungeon if you focus on it. Paired with the overkill system which has you gaining gold for overkill damage on bosses at a diminishing rate the more you get up to a total of 5000, can quickly ramp up gold gains as with 500% greed (base 100% with upgrades) will net you 25k per boss. The largest gold amount I have had in a run was >300k which meant every card with Coin Count was also dealing >300k, even at >10k gold this is still ridiculous for one upgrade.

The gem system is a great and somewhat different take on an upgrade system that ends up feeling almost completely detached from the gameplay for 90% of the gem choices. Things such as Coin Count, Copy, Wild, feel almost mandatory for a large portion of cards while other choices which should be considered end up falling flat like the +x/-x Mana cost manipulation gems which conceptually are great just never felt correct to use over literally anything else.

While ultimately you are free to choose what strategy to play with, everything still inched towards infinite cycling after the first couple of stages which became boring.

Overall, VC is a great concept which shows it strengths early in the gameplay loop but pushes too far too quickly, resulting in an ever increasing dissatisfactory gameplay loop the further in the game you go. I am however interested to see if and how they continue releasing content for this as it does have good potential if it is reigned in a bit and expanded on the more interesting parts.
