Gameplay is fast, fluid, and highly skill-based. Players are encouraged to experiment with different weapons, combos, and fighting styles such as Trickster, Swordmaster, Gunslinger, and Royalguard. Short Review🥇
Devil May Cry 3 is widely considered one of the best entries in the series and a defining game in the hack-and-slash genre. It delivers a perfect mix of fast-paced combat, stylish gameplay, and a surprisingly deep story.

The combat system is the highlight of the game. It introduces multiple fighting styles, allowing players to customize how Dante plays—whether focusing on sword combat, guns, defense, or mobility. The controls are responsive, and the game rewards skill, timing, and creativity, making every fight feel satisfying.
However, the difficulty can be quite challenging, especially for new players. Enemies hit hard, and bosses require strategy and patience. While this may frustrate some, it also makes mastering the game incredibly rewarding.

The story is another strong point. It explores Dante’s early life and his rivalry with Vergil, adding emotional weight and character development. The cutscenes are memorable, stylish, and full of personality.

Weapons🗡️
Devil Arms💀
  • Rebellion
  • Cerberus
  • Agni & Rudra
  • Nevan
  • Beowulf
Fire Arms🩸
  • Ebony & Ivory

  • Artemis
  • Spiral

Costumes🎭
Devil May Cry 3 boasts the most alternate costumes for Dante to date, with his DMC1 outfit, two "coatless" variants, a Sparda outfit, and two "Super" costumes. Vergil has his own set of wardrobe changes, including a coatless version of his standard look, a variant on Sparda's outfit where he is turned into Nelo Angelo upon his devil trigger and two "Super" costumes; one for his regular outfit and one for his corrupted outfit.

Visually, the game still holds up well for its time, with unique environments and iconic character designs. The soundtrack perfectly matches the action, enhancing the overall experience.

Overall
Devil May Cry 3 is a must-play for action game fans. Despite its difficulty, it stands out for its depth, style, and lasting impact on the genre.
Gameplay 🎮
Devil May Cry 3 plays very differently from its predecessors although the premise still remains the same: slaying demons while solving puzzles to progress through the levels.
Unlike the first and second game, Devil May Cry 3 puts much more emphasis on style rather than slaying.Simple demon As such, combat is much more intense and faster than before. Players can now switch between both Devil Arms and firearms with the R2 and L2 buttons, allowing for a very powerful and stylish string of combos.

The Stylish Rank is now represented by a gauge. As players land successful hits and dodge attacks, the gauge increases. Once filled up, it will go up a rank.
If the player takes any damage, the gauge will be reset at a lower level and if the same attack is repeated over and over again, the gauge will not increase until a new one is performed.

In addition, players are free to choose how to go about each mission through Styles, which change the way Dante fights, thus allowing diverse ways to gain Stylish points.

Trickster focuses on evasion techniques, allowing the player to deftly dodge attacks of any kind. They essentially increase Dante's speed and helps increase the Stylish gauge by using such evasive abilities. Swordmaster focuses on Devil Arms/melee combat. It allows maximum use of such weapons to their fullest extent and is recommended for those, who prefer close-quarters combat. Gunslinger brings about the best in each firearm allowing the player to unleash devastating firepower at a distance. Royalguard is arguably the strongest and hardest style to master. It allows the player to effectively guard and counter any attack delivered towards Dante and turn their powers back at them.

Recommended for expert players, Royalguard is the hardest to master, but once perfected, makes Dante invincible. Later in the game, players can gain two extra styles: Quicksilver, which slows down time while allowing the player to move at normal speed, and Doppelganger, which animates the user's shadow to assist in offense.

Gameplay Extras🎯
List of Extras;
  • Bloody Palace
Main article: Bloody Palace
The Bloody Palace is a game mode separate from the storyline that has the player grind through enemies. It offers a change of scenery and lets the player amass Orbs outside of storyline missions. The Bloody Palace is unlockable in Devil May Cry 2, Devil May Cry 3: Special Edition, Devil May Cry 4,. It was added post-launch in a free update to Devil May Cry 5, and as free DLC for DmC: Devil May Cry. Like all other DLC, it is included in DmC Definitive Edition.

  • Theater
The theater allows the player to view all cutscenes without having to play through the missions again. In Devil May Cry 3: Special Edition, this extra is called "Demo Digest."
  • Library
The library consists of entries about various aspects of the game, from enemy files to information about combat maneuvers. They provide more in-depth explanations of items, enemies, and the like, which helps to flesh out the game universe in ways that cannot be accomplished during the missions.
  • Difficulty Modes
Upon completion of a lower difficulty, players unlock the option to play through the story again, but against tougher opponents.

Because players are allowed to keep the orbs, Items, and techniques they earned from the first playthrough, (with the exception of the Easy Mode in Devil May Cry,) this is very similar to a "New Game +" feature.

Stylish Rankings⚡
🔥How Stylish Rank works 🔥

You increase your rank by:
  • Landing different combos (not spamming same attack)
  • Switching weapons (Rebellion, Cerberus, etc.)
  • Using Devil Trigger
  • Dodging attacks without getting hit
  • Keeping constant combat flow

If you play slowly, repeat moves, or get hit, your rank drops quickly.

💀 Rank order in DMC3
D – Deadly (lowest, basic attacks)
C – Carnage
B – Brutal
A – Atomic
S – Smokin’
SS – Smokin’ Style
SSS – Smokin’ Sick Style (max rank)

⚡ Key DMC3 tip ⚡
DMC3 is very strict:
Getting hit = big style drop
Standing still = rank decay
Repeating combos = weaker score gain

“Let’s rock, baby!”
In Devil May Cry 3: Dante's Awakening, the Stylish Rank system is one of the most iconic gameplay mechanics in the entire series, defining what it truly means to fight with style rather than just power.
The system evaluates the player’s combat performance in real time, rewarding creativity, variety, and precision. Instead of simply spamming attacks, players are encouraged to mix different moves, weapons, and combat styles to build and maintain a higher rank. The more diverse and skillful the gameplay, the more “stylish” the fight becomes.

The ranking progresses through several levels such as Dope, Crazy, Blast, Alright, Sweet, Showtime, and ultimately SSStylish. Each tier represents how well the player is performing in combat, with higher ranks requiring consistent aggression, variety, and flawless execution.
Taking damage or repeating the same moves too often will quickly lower the rank, pushing players to stay creative and focused at all times.
This system perfectly complements the fast-paced combat of the series, especially for characters like Dante, whose fighting style is built around flexibility and expression. It transforms every battle into a performance, where the goal is not just survival, but looking as cool as possible while doing it.Ultimately, the Stylish Rank system is what makes Devil May Cry stand out from other action games. It rewards mastery, encourages experimentation, and turns every fight into a personal showcase of skill, rhythm, and creativity.

  • “I didn’t beat the boss… I styled on him.
  • “If it’s not SSS, did you even play Devil May Cry?”
  • “My combos last longer than your patience. SSS rank only.”
  • “Getting hit? Sorry, I don’t drop below Stylish.”
  • “Enemies aren’t hard… staying SSS is.”

Style System Explained⚡
In Devil May Cry 3, Styles define how you approach combat. Each Style gives Dante unique abilities and completely changes the flow of battle. Mastering when and how to use them is key to improving your gameplay and achieving higher Stylish Ranks.

⚡ Trickster (Mobility & Evasion)

Trickster focuses on speed and movement. It allows you to dodge attacks quickly and reposition yourself during combat.

  • Best for beginners and survival
  • Great against aggressive enemies and bosses
  • Helps avoid damage while maintaining combos

💡 Tip: Use Trickster to stay mobile and avoid getting hit, especially in difficult fights.

⚔️ Swordmaster (Melee Power)

Swordmaster enhances Dante’s melee weapons by unlocking additional attacks and combo options.

  • Increases combo variety
  • Allows more creative and stylish gameplay
  • Ideal for close-range combat

💡 Tip: Perfect for players who want to maximize damage and style using melee weapons.

🔫 Gunslinger (Ranged Combat)

Gunslinger improves Dante’s firearm abilities, adding new shooting techniques and ranged options.
  • Great for keeping distance
  • Useful for controlling enemies
  • Adds variety to combat flow

💡 Tip: Combine Gunslinger with melee attacks to keep your combos fresh and stylish.

🛡️ Royalguard (Defense & Timing)

Royalguard is a high-skill Style focused on blocking and countering enemy attacks.
  • Can block almost any attack
  • Rewards precise timing
  • Extremely powerful in skilled hands

💡 Tip: Mastering Royalguard allows you to negate damage and deal massive counterattacks.

🔥 Final Thoughts

Each Style offers a different way to play the game. There is no “best” Style—only what fits your playstyle.
Learning to switch between Styles and adapting to different situations will greatly improve your performance and help you reach higher Stylish Ranks.
Punishment💀
The player's Stylish rank will deplete through inactivity, or by continuously using the same attacks without much variation between them, which will not boost the gauge. The higher the current grade of Style, the faster the gauge will deplete. If struck by an enemy's attack, the Stylish rank is generally greatly affected.
In the original Devil May Cry, the Stylish rank completely resets if it is not maintained, and the time until it is lost is the shortest in the series (1.5 seconds), to the point that it is possible to completely lose Style rating by missing a single hit. It is often necessary to use firearms to maintain it while moving between enemies, or take advantage of the lack of knockback Stinger has to move quickly to a new target. Charging blows with Ifrit will pause the decay of the Stylish rank. Knocking an enemy into the air and juggling it with Ebony & Ivory will constantly increase the Style rank right up to S without any further combo variation. Unlike later games, taking hits has no effect on the Stylish rank at all.

Devil May Cry does not have the Style Point system adopted later in the series: the end-of-stage grade is worked out by comparing only the level time and number of Red Orbs collected. Presumably this is based on the assumption that if the player acquired a large number of Red Orbs quickly, they must have been playing stylishly to get them.

In Devil May Cry 4 and DmC: Devil May Cry, the Stylish rank is given a few minor retention factors; inactivity will empty the gauge, but otherwise keeps the grade itself unless the battle concludes. In Devil May Cry 3 and onward, being hit by an attack or otherwise interrupted will drop the grade down two or three ranks (usually to C), depending on how high the Stylish grade was before the strike. In Devil May Cry 4 and Devil May Cry 5, when the player character is damaged, the Stylish Rank will grade down two levels: at B, it goes down to D. With an A, rank drops down to C, and rank S/SS/SSS to B.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐Punishment Specialist⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
In Devil May Cry 3, punishment is not just a concept—it is a core part of the game’s identity, deeply tied to its brutal difficulty, stylish combat system, and unforgiving enemy design. The game constantly challenges the player to improve, forcing them to learn from mistakes and adapt quickly in order to survive and succeed.

Unlike many modern action games, DMC3 does not hold the player’s hand. Every mistake is punished immediately and often harshly. Taking damage, repeating the same attacks, or playing too defensively can quickly lead to failure, especially on higher difficulties. Enemies are aggressive, fast, and intelligent enough to punish predictable behavior without hesitation.

One of the most important forms of punishment in DMC3 is the Stylish Rank system. If the player gets hit, stays idle, or spams the same moves repeatedly, their rank drops significantly. This system encourages creativity, aggression, and constant movement. The game rewards skillful and varied combat while punishing lazy or repetitive gameplay.

Boss fights in DMC3 are another major example of punishment. Each boss is designed with unique patterns and high damage output. A single mistake can cost a large portion of your health bar, and in some cases, lead to instant death on higher difficulties. However, this harsh punishment is what makes victory so satisfying. Every win feels earned, not given.

Punishment in DMC3 also plays a psychological role. The game pushes players into frustration, but at the same time motivates them to improve. Every defeat teaches something new—timing, positioning, enemy behavior, or combo efficiency. Over time, what once felt impossible becomes manageable through practice and persistence.

Ultimately, punishment in Devil May Cry 3 is not just a negative mechanic—it is the foundation of its mastery system. It separates casual players from skilled ones and transforms combat into an art form. The more you endure and learn from punishment, the more powerful and stylish you become.

That is what makes DMC3 unforgettable: it does not forgive you, it shapes you.

⚔️ Core Combo Principles

Before learning specific combos, you need to understand the basics:

Always vary your attacks (do not spam one move)➤Switch weapons during combat
➤Use Devil Trigger at the right moment
➤Keep enemies airborne for better control
➤Dodge between combos to maintain flow
➤Never stay idle

Dante’s combat is about flow, not repetition.

🔫 Sword + Gun Combo Flow (Basic Starter)

A simple but effective combo structure:
➤Launch enemy with High Time
➤Switch to aerial attacks (e.g. Aerial Rave)
➤Fire guns mid-air (e.g. Ebony & Ivory shots)
➤Slam enemy back down with a finisher
Repeat with style variation

This is the foundation of Dante’s aerial control system.

🔥 Advanced Style Switching Combo

For more experienced players:

➤Start with Rebellion ground combo➤Switch to Swordmaster for extended melee attacks
➤Swap to Gunslinger for ranged pressure
➤Use Trickster dash to reposition
➤Finish with Devil Trigger burst damage

This creates a continuous combat flow that keeps Stylish Rank high.

⚔️ Weapon Combo Ideas
Rebellion (Balanced Sword)
High Time → Aerial Rave → Helm Breaker
Stinger → Ground combo finisher
Cerberus (Ice Weapon)
Fast close-range combo chains
Great for crowd control and stun pressure
Agni & Rudra (Dual Blades)
Fast multi-hit combos
Excellent for Stylish Rank building
Beowulf (Heavy Damage)
Slow but powerful finishers
Best used after juggling enemies
🔥 Guns Combo Usage
Ebony & Ivory: constant pressure + aerial control

Guns are not just support—they are part of your combo flow.

💀 Devil Trigger Combo Finish
When enemies are weak:
➤Launch combo chain
➤Activate Devil Trigger
➤Use high damage finishers
➤End with stylish aerial slam

Devil Trigger should feel like a final explosion of style and power.

🧠 Final Tips
Do not memorize combos—create your own flow
Always prioritize Stylish Rank over damage
Practice switching styles mid-fight
Stay aggressive but controlled
Learn enemy patterns for perfect timing

Dante is not about pressing buttons randomly—he is about turning combat into performance.

S Rank Time Guide💡
Achieving S Rank in the Devil May Cry HD Collection is not just about finishing missions quickly — but time is still a major factor in your final ranking. Many players underestimate how important pacing is, especially when combined with style, damage taken, and overall performance.

This guide focuses on time expectations for S Rank across all three games and how to approach them efficiently.

⏱️ How Time Affects Your Rank

In all DMC games, your final rank is influenced by:

  • Completion time
  • Stylish combat performance
  • Damage taken
  • Red Orbs collected
  • Item usage

Even if you play extremely stylish, taking too long can prevent you from reaching S Rank. On the other hand, rushing too much and playing poorly can also hurt your score.

👉 The key is balance: fast + stylish + clean gameplay

Devil May Cry 1 – S Rank Time Tips
DMC1 is very strict compared to the others.

⏱️ Recommended S Rank Times:
Short missions: 3–5 minutes
Medium missions: 5–8 minutes
Long missions: 8–12 minutes

💡 Tips:
Skip unnecessary fights whenever possible
Focus on efficient enemy kills
Learn boss patterns to end fights quickly
Avoid damage — it heavily impacts your rank

👉 In DMC1, clean execution matters more than flashy gameplay

Devil May Cry 2 – S Rank Time Tips
DMC2 is the easiest game to S rank in the collection.

⏱️ Recommended Times (Dante):Most missions: 3–7 minutes
⏱️ Recommended Times (Lucia):
Shorter missions: 2–5 minutes

💡 Tips:
Abuse ranged attacks for fast clears
Keep moving forward — don’t waste time exploring
Enemies are less aggressive, use that to your advantage

👉 This is the most forgiving game in terms of time

Devil May Cry 3 – S Rank Time Tips
DMC3 has the most balanced but demanding system.

⏱️ Recommended S Rank Times:
Short missions: 4–6 minutes
Medium missions: 6–10 minutes
Long missions / boss-heavy: 10–15 minutes

💡 Tips:
Maintain a constant combat flow (don’t stop moving)
Use weapon switching to maximize damage and style
Memorize mission layouts to avoid getting lost
Skip unnecessary encounters when possible

👉 DMC3 rewards players who can combine speed with high-level combat

⚠️ Important Notes
  • Time alone is NOT enough for S Rank
  • Taking damage will lower your final score significantly
  • Using items (especially Gold Orbs) can ruin your rank
  • Repeating the same attacks lowers your style score
  • The higher your style rank, the faster it drops — stay aggressive

🔥 Final Advice
If you’re aiming for consistent S Ranks:
  • Learn enemy patterns
  • Optimize your routes
  • Stay aggressive but controlled
  • Practice missions individually
At the end of the day, Devil May Cry is about playing with style, precision, and confidence — not just speed.

💬 Master the system, and S Rank will come naturally.

Devil May Cry 3 : Special Edition⭐

Devil May Cry 3: Special Edition is an enhanced version of the original Devil May Cry 3: Dante’s Awakening, widely praised for refining one of the greatest action combat systems ever created. This edition not only improves overall balance and accessibility but also introduces new features that significantly expand the gameplay experience.

One of the most important additions is the ability to play as Vergil, offering a completely different combat style focused on precision, speed, and overwhelming power. His unique weapons and abilities provide a fresh perspective on the game’s mechanics.

The Special Edition also rebalances the difficulty compared to the original Western release, making it more approachable while still maintaining its challenging nature. Additional modes like Bloody Palace further increase replayability, giving players endless opportunities to test their skills.

With its deep combat system, stylish gameplay, and iconic characters like Dante and Vergil, Devil May Cry 3: Special Edition remains one of the most beloved entries in the series and a defining title in the action genre.

Devil May Cry 1 didn’t just appear in the gaming world — it crashed into it like a meteor. At a time when action games were still searching for identity, it introduced a completely new sense of speed, attitude, and style. Tight combat, gothic atmosphere, and an unforgettable protagonist turned it into something far beyond a simple hack-and-slash game. It felt raw, experimental, and ahead of its time, laying the foundation for an entire genre that would later be defined by “stylish action.”

Then came Devil May Cry 3, which didn’t just continue the legacy — it perfected it. The combat system became deeper, faster, and more expressive, pushing players to fight not just to win, but to look cool while doing it. The rivalry between Dante and Vergil added emotional weight and intensity, making every encounter feel personal. It refined everything the first game started and turned it into a masterpiece of precision, chaos, and style.

Together, they represent the evolution of a legend — from impact to perfection.

Devil May Cry 3: Special Edition is widely regarded as the definitive version of one of the most influential action games ever created. Expanding upon the already strong foundation of Devil May Cry 3: Dante's Awakening, this edition refines gameplay systems, introduces new content, and enhances replayability, making it a must-play for both newcomers and longtime fans of the series.
At its core, the game delivers a fast-paced, highly technical combat system that rewards skill, timing, and creativity. Players take control of Dante, a young and cocky demon hunter whose journey shapes him into the iconic character known throughout the franchise. The introduction of multiple fighting styles—such as Trickster, Swordmaster, Gunslinger, and Royalguard—allows players to approach combat in different ways, encouraging experimentation and mastery.
Every encounter becomes an opportunity to perform stylish combos and achieve higher rankings, making the gameplay deeply satisfying and endlessly replayable.
One of the standout features of the Special Edition is the addition of Vergil as a playable character. Vergil offers a completely different combat experience compared to Dante, focusing on precision, speed, and elegant swordplay. His moveset is more refined and disciplined, appealing to players who prefer calculated and efficient gameplay. This addition significantly expands the game’s depth and provides a fresh perspective on its mechanics.
The game also introduces the Bloody Palace mode, a survival challenge where players must fight through waves of increasingly difficult enemies. This mode tests endurance and mastery of the combat system, pushing players to fully utilize their skills and strategies. Combined with multiple difficulty levels, the Special Edition ensures that players of all skill levels can find a challenge that suits them.
Narratively, the game explores the intense rivalry between Dante and his twin brother Vergil.

Driven by his obsession with power, Vergil seeks to unlock the strength of their father, Sparda, by raising the demonic tower Temen-ni-gru. In contrast, Dante gradually begins to understand the importance of humanity and responsibility.
This clash of ideologies forms the emotional core of the story, adding depth to the high-octane action. Along the way, players encounter Lady, whose personal quest for revenge adds further emotional weight to the narrative.

Visually, while the game reflects the technical limitations of its time, its strong art direction, gothic environments, and memorable character designs allow it to remain visually appealing even today. The cinematic cutscenes, combined with a powerful and energetic soundtrack, enhance the overall experience and give the game a distinct identity.

Devil May Cry 3 : Special Edition II⭐
Devil May Cry 3: Special Edition is a re-release of Devil May Cry 3: Dante's Awakening with an impressive list of added content:

  • It is now possible to play as Vergil on a separate save file. Vergil fights with only 3 melee weapons (Yamato, Beowulf, and Force Edge) and only has one style, Dark Slayer. He plays through the same levels as Dante but without the voiced cutscenes and behaves like him during scripted scenes. He also still fights a "Vergil" boss three times, however, this boss has a red coat to differentiate it from player Vergil. Players have nicknamed the character "Vante" to resolve confusion.

  • The game difficulty modes were shifted down so that the Special Edition's Normal mode is equivalent to the original's Easy mode, and a new Very Hard mode was added to replace the original Hard mode.

  • The Bloody Palace from Devil May Cry 2 was also added, though it ends at the 9999th floor instead of restarting, and beating it with either character allows them to obtain their first Super costume without completing the Very Hard mode.

  • The "Demo Digest" mode was added, allowing the player to view any previously seen cutscene along with a hidden scene from the main menu.

  • Three boss fights were created for Dante to fight the Jester character - the first of these is mandatory, while the next two are optional. Vergil can also fight him, although it is not mandatory for him either.

  • The Super glitch in the first game was corrected so that Quicksilver and Doppelganger still drain energy, even while using the Super costumes. However, to compensate for that, a new Super Legendary Dark Knight costume was added which preserves the glitch.
Devil May Cry 3: Special Edition – Overall Reception II
Devil May Cry 3: Special Edition received widespread critical acclaim and is often regarded as one of the best entries in the series. Critics and players praised its deep and rewarding combat system, which emphasizes skill, timing, and stylish execution. The addition of new content in the Special Edition, including the ability to play as Vergil, further enhanced its replay value and appeal.

The game is also highly recognized for its refined gameplay mechanics, diverse weapon system, and the introduction of the Style system, allowing players to customize their combat approach. Its challenging difficulty became a defining feature, offering a satisfying experience for those willing to master its mechanics.

In addition to gameplay, the story and character dynamics—especially the rivalry between Dante and Vergil—were well received, adding emotional depth to the action.Overall, Devil May Cry 3: Special Edition is considered a landmark title in the action genre and a fan-favorite that continues to be celebrated for its style and depth. 🔥🎮
Devil May Cry HD Collection📺

Devil May Cry HD Collection is a compilation of Devil May Cry, Devil May Cry 2, and Devil May Cry 3: Dante's Awakening (Special Edition). It was officially announced by Capcom in October 2011 and released on April 4, 2012 for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
A port of this collection released for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on March 13, 2018. The collection was praised for bringing the games to a higher resolution, but criticized for not having the menus and some cutscenes redone for 16:9 widescreen.

Fans also criticized numerous graphical and audio issues present in the ports, including simplified or missing graphical effects, distorted or missing audio, and music failing to loop correctly. Most infamously, the graphical effect for one of Mundus 2's attacks in Devil May Cry was almost entirely missing in the PS3 version.A few of these issues were addressed in the later eighth-generation port.

Features
Overall, the HD Collection consists of straight ports of its component titles, with the graphics system upgraded to high-definition 720p on PS3 and Xbox 360 and 1080p on PS4 and Xbox One. Although the game does not use the MT Framework engine from Devil May Cry 4 and lacks any new lighting effects, during gameplay the screen is set by default to widescreen and 32-bit resolutions; however, the screen aspect ratio is still set to 4:3 for menus and some cutscenes. In addition, character models have a new skinning effect to reduce blur. Loading screens have also been eliminated.

As a seventh-gen game, the HD Collection includes achievements or trophies for completing tasks throughout each game. However, both the awards and the save function are disabled on the Devil May Cry 3: Special Edition port when Cheat Mode is active. New concept art is also made available to be unlocked, as well as a jukebox mode to allow the player to listen to select tracks from all three games.

The version released in 2018 (PS4, Xbox One and Steam) includes the ability to go back to the game selection screen.

Devil May Cry HD Collection – Full Review
Devil May Cry HD Collection brings together three iconic titles—Devil May Cry, Devil May Cry 2, and Devil May Cry 3: Special Edition—in one package, giving both new players and long-time fans the opportunity to experience the origins of one of the most stylish action franchises in gaming history.

At its core, the collection is a celebration of fast-paced combat, precise mechanics, and over-the-top style. Each game offers a different perspective on the evolution of the series, showcasing how the gameplay, level design, and character depth improved over time.

The first Devil May Cry stands as a revolutionary title that helped define the hack-and-slash genre. Its gothic atmosphere, tight level design, and strategic combat laid the foundation for everything that followed. While it may feel somewhat dated in certain aspects, its core gameplay still holds up remarkably well.

Devil May Cry 2, on the other hand, is often considered the weakest entry in the collection. Although it introduced some improvements like smoother movement and larger environments, it lacks the depth, challenge, and personality that define the rest of the series. Combat feels less impactful, and the overall experience can feel repetitive. Still, it remains an interesting part of the franchise’s history.

The highlight of the collection is undoubtedly Devil May Cry 3: Special Edition. This game represents the peak of classic DMC design, featuring an incredibly deep combat system, a wide variety of weapons and styles, and a high level of difficulty that rewards mastery. The addition of Vergil as a playable character further enhances replayability, offering a completely different combat experience.

From a technical standpoint, the HD Collection delivers cleaner visuals and smoother performance compared to the original releases. Running at higher resolutions and stable frame rates, it provides a more polished way to experience these classic titles. However, it is still a remaster rather than a full remake, meaning some outdated design choices and limitations remain.

One of the strongest aspects of the collection is its replay value. The games encourage players to improve their skills, achieve higher Stylish Ranks, and experiment with different weapons and strategies. Mastering the combat system—especially in DMC3—can take dozens of hours and remains deeply satisfying.

Despite some flaws, particularly in Devil May Cry 2, the HD Collection as a whole is an essential experience for fans of action games. It captures the spirit of what made the series legendary: skill-based combat, stylish gameplay, and unforgettable characters.

In the end, Devil May Cry HD Collection is more than just a bundle of old games—it is a piece of gaming history. For those willing to embrace its challenge and depth, it offers one of the most rewarding action experiences ever created.

Devil May Cry HD Collection review scores (PS3 / overall):
  • Metacritic (Critic Score): 77 / 100 – “Generally favorable”

  • ⚠ DMC2 is generally seen as the weakest entry
  • ✔ The HD Collection is a solid package, but adds little new content
  • ✔ Combat system and gameplay are still highly praised

🎯 Overall summary
  • Critics: mid-to-good (77/100)
  • Players: much higher (8/10+)
  • Strongest entry: DMC3 Special Edition ⚔️🔥

Challenges❗
Devil May Cry 3 is said to be the most difficult game in the series, and the original release is often regarded as one of the most difficult games of all time. Enemies and Bosses generally get tougher while the player gets weaker as the difficulty increases. It's also worth noting that the style ranking has a direct impact on the difficulty of the game in terms of enemy patterns and aggressiveness on nearly all counts.

It should be noted that most difficulty levels were shifted up by one in the original Americas release, making the Americas 'Easy' equivalent to Japanese 'Normal', Americas 'Normal' equivalent to Japanese 'Hard', and Americas 'Hard' being a unique difficulty that would later be known in the special edition as 'Very Hard'. The Special Edition release returned to consistent difficulty mode names across all regions.

  • Easy - Easy mode is not available at the beginning. It is unlocked by dying at least 3 times in Normal mode. Enemies in this mode generally deal less damage and take more damage. Bosses are more docile. Easy also has Automatic Mode a mode for players which allows them to perform complex combos by just repeatedly pressing a button without regard to timing.

  • Normal - The default mode of the game. The player and enemies take normal damage. Bosses are tough and attack frequently.

  • Hard - Unlocked by beating Normal. Enemies deal more damage and take less. Bosses attack more frequently.

  • Very Hard - This difficulty is only available in the Special Edition version of the game. It is unlocked by beating the game on Hard. Bosses attack even more frequently. The player deals less damage and takes more damage from enemies. It introduces the enemy waves and boss patterns used in Dante Must Die mode.

  • Dante Must Die - This difficulty is unlocked by beating the game on Hard. Enemies are more aggressive and deal more damage. They also have access to Devil Trigger and activate it after a certain period of time. Enemies will also Devil Trigger once witnessing the death of at least two demons, which can be mitigated by using Devil Trigger Explosion or deliberately not finishing off enemies at low health.

  • Heaven Or Hell - New to the series is the Heaven Or Hell mode. It is unlocked by beating the game on Dante Must Die. In this mode, all Enemies and Bosses die in one attack. However, the player character also dies in one attack.
Devil May Cry 3 – Devil Trigger (DT)
⚡ What is Devil Trigger?

Devil Trigger (DT) is a special transformation system that allows Dante (and Vergil in Special Edition) to enter a demonic form. When activated, the character gains significant combat advantages.

In short, DT is a power mode that boosts both offense and defense.

🟣 DT Gauge (Devil Trigger Bar)

The DT system works with a dedicated energy meter.

🔋 How it fills:
  • Attacking enemies
  • Taking damage (small amount)
  • Collecting orbs (especially green and yellow)
🔻 How it drains:
  • Gradually decreases while DT is active
  • Certain abilities may consume DT faster

🧬 What Happens When DT is Active?
💪 1. Increased Damage
  • All melee attacks deal significantly more damage
  • Combos become much more powerful
🩸 2. HP Regeneration
  • Continuous health regeneration while DT is active
  • Extremely useful in boss fights and higher difficulties
🏃 3. Speed Boost
  • Faster movement and attack animations
  • Improved dodge and repositioning capability
🛡️ 4. Damage Reduction
  • Incoming damage is effectively reduced
  • Allows players to survive otherwise lethal attacks
💥 5. Special DT Attacks
Each weapon gains enhanced properties during DT:
  • Stronger launchers and finishers
  • Additional hit effects
  • Wider area-of-effect (AoE) attacks

👹 Dante – Devil Trigger Features

Dante’s DT form is:
  • A classic demon transformation
  • Visually represented with demonic energy wings
  • Balanced between offense, defense, and regeneration
🎯 Advantages:
  • Highly versatile in all situations
  • Works perfectly with style switching systems
  • Provides strong sustain in boss fights
⚔️ Vergil – Devil Trigger (Special Edition)

Vergil’s DT is more aggressive and speed-focused:
  • Darker, more intense demonic aura
  • Summoned Swords become significantly stronger
  • Built for high burst damage
🎯 Advantages:
  • Extremely high DPS (damage per second)
  • Faster and more aggressive gameplay style
  • Can melt bosses quickly with optimized combos

🧠 Strategic Use of DT
🟢 Best times to activate:
  • During boss fights when HP is low
  • While performing long combo chains
  • When surrounded by multiple enemies
🔴 When NOT to use:
  • Against weak enemies (waste of gauge)
  • Panic activation without purpose
  • Instead of learning dodge timing

💡 Advanced Techniques

⚔️ 1. DT Cancel Pressure
Quickly activating and deactivating DT to speed up attack flow

🩸 2. Regen Abuse
Using short DT bursts only for health recovery in tough fights

💥 3. Combo Extension
Extending combos with DT to achieve higher Style Ranks (SSS)

🧩 4. Weapon Synergy
Certain weapons become significantly stronger and faster in DT mode

🏁 Summary
The Devil Trigger system is a core mechanic in Devil May Cry 3:
  • 🔥 Increases damage output
  • 🩸 Regenerates health
  • ⚡ Boosts speed and mobility
  • 🛡️ Improves survivability

But the key point is:
DT is not just a power-up — it is a strategic tool that can completely change how fights are played when used at the right moment.

𝑺𝑻𝒀𝑳𝑬 𝑺𝑾𝑰𝑻𝑪𝑯𝑰𝑵𝑮 (DMC3) 👑

ThxSoMch - SPIT IN MY FACE!🚀
I made a Devil May Cry 3 Jester mix using the song “Thnx So Much (Spit on My Face)”, and the result turned out much better than I expected. The chaotic energy of the track fits surprisingly well with Jester’s unpredictable personality and the game’s overall insane atmosphere.

The song’s rhythm changes and sudden buildups match perfectly with fast-cut combat scenes, stylish combos, and the wild, theatrical moments of Devil May Cry 3. Every beat feels synchronized with Dante’s aggressive fighting style and Jester’s chaotic presence in the story, which makes the edit intense and entertaining from start to finish.

Jester is one of the most mysterious and unsettling characters in Devil May Cry 3: Dante’s Awakening. At first glance, he appears to be a comedic, exaggerated, and playful clown-like figure, but in reality, he plays a much deeper role in the story.

Who is Jester?
Jester appears as a strange jester who guides the player throughout the game. He constantly laughs, makes jokes, and gives sarcastic directions to Dante. However, behind this behavior lies a strong sense of mystery. His true identity and purpose remain hidden for a long time.
Personality and Behavior
Jester’s most defining trait is his chaotic sense of humor:

  • He laughs loudly and constantly
  • He makes jokes even in serious situations
  • He speaks in a mocking, playful tone
  • He turns dangerous moments into entertainment

Because of this, many players initially see him as an unsettling or annoying guide.

Role in the Story
Jester is not just a comic relief character. As the story progresses, it becomes clear that he is connected to major events happening behind the scenes. He seems to know more than he should and provides important hints.
His guidance includes:
  • Solutions to maze-like missions
  • Hidden paths and secrets
  • Key directions for story progression
Role in Gameplay
Jester is not a direct combat boss in most cases, but he:

Appears in certain scenes and boss areas
Gives hints for puzzles and progression
Influences events through his appearances
True Identity (Spoiler)
One of the biggest mysteries about Jester is his real identity. As the game progresses, it becomes clear that he is far more than just a clown. His actions are intentional and tied to the deeper story of the game.

Why is he iconic?
  • He is both funny and disturbing
  • He adds mystery to the story
  • He constantly makes players question who he really is
  • He breaks the typical “helper NPC” stereotype

Conclusion
Jester is not just a joke character. He is one of the key figures that shapes the atmosphere of Devil May Cry 3: Dante’s Awakening, adding mystery, tension, and unpredictability to the experience.

Jester – The Mysterious Trickster of Devil May Cry 3 🎭
Complete character analysis:
Jester is one of the most unusual and memorable characters in Devil May Cry 3, standing out not through raw power alone, but through his strange behavior, cryptic dialogue, and constant presence throughout the story. At first glance, he appears as nothing more than a bizarre, laughing clown—someone who seems out of place in the dark and brutal world of demons and hunters. However, beneath his playful and chaotic personality lies a far more important role in the game’s narrative.

Throughout Dante’s journey in the Temen-ni-gru tower, Jester appears at key moments, often mocking Dante while offering vague hints and guidance. His unpredictable nature makes it difficult to tell whether he is helping or manipulating events for his own amusement. He speaks in riddles, laughs at danger, and treats the entire situation like a twisted performance, which adds a unique layer of tension and mystery to the story.

Despite his comedic appearance, Jester is far from harmless. He engages Dante in battle multiple times, revealing that his strange personality hides real power and skill. These encounters are both entertaining and challenging, forcing players to adapt to his unpredictable attack patterns and erratic movements. His fighting style mirrors his personality—chaotic, deceptive, and full of surprises.

As the story progresses, it becomes clear that Jester is more than just a random character. He is deeply connected to the main conflict between Dante and Vergil, playing a manipulative role behind the scenes. His true identity and intentions reveal a darker side, showing that his clown-like persona is merely a mask hiding ambition and cunning intelligence. This twist adds depth to the narrative and redefines how players perceive his earlier appearances.

Jester’s role in Devil May Cry 3 is essential to the overall experience. He brings a mix of humor, mystery, and danger, breaking the seriousness of the story while also enhancing it. His presence keeps players guessing, never fully revealing his motives until the right moment.

In the end, Jester is not just comic relief—he is a symbol of deception and hidden agendas within the world of Devil May Cry 3. His unforgettable personality, eerie laughter, and surprising importance make him one of the most unique characters in the game. 🎭🔥
Boss Battle Strategies (1-3)🔑
🔥 Devil May Cry 1–3 Boss Strategy Guide 🔥
The Devil May Cry trilogy is known for its fast-paced combat, stylish action, and especially its challenging boss fights. Each game introduces unique mechanics and increasingly complex enemy patterns, making boss battles not just tests of strength, but also of timing, awareness, and mastery of the combat system.

Devil May Cry 1 – Tactical Precision and Pattern Learning
In the first Devil May Cry, boss fights are more methodical compared to later entries. The focus is on learning enemy patterns and striking at the right moment rather than aggressive combo chaining.

🕷️ Phantoms

Phantom teaches players the basics of positioning. Attacking its head is key, but staying under it is dangerous due to lava attacks. The best strategy is patience—wait for it to expose weak points after jumps or fire attacks, then punish quickly and retreat.

🦇 Nelo Angelo (Vergil encounters)

These fights are all about defense and timing. Nelo Angelo punishes reckless attacks, so dodging and countering is essential. Wait for his sword combos to finish, then land quick hits. As the fight progresses, his teleportation becomes more aggressive, requiring sharp reaction timing.

🦂 Griffon

Griffon introduces aerial combat pressure. Staying mobile is critical. Use firearms during its flying phases, and only engage in melee when it lands or after lightning attacks. Positioning is everything—getting caught in electric fields can quickly end the fight.

🔥 Mundus

The final boss is a multi-phase endurance test. The key is adapting between ground and aerial combat sections. In the final phase, Devil Trigger usage becomes crucial for survival and damage output.

Devil May Cry 2 – Simplicity and Range Dominance
DMC2 bosses are generally easier, but they emphasize ranged combat and mobility more than close-quarters precision.

🐉 Jokatgulm

This underwater boss is best handled with constant movement. Lock-on targeting helps maintain damage while avoiding tentacle grabs. Staying still is the fastest way to lose control of the fight.

🦂 Bolverk (Lucia/Dante encounters)

Bolverk fights reward distance control. Keep mid-range spacing and punish after his heavy axe swings. His teleportation can be annoying, but predictable if you stay calm and avoid panic dodging.

👹 Arius / Argosax forms

These fights are more cinematic than complex. Focus on survival, avoid environmental hazards, and maintain steady DPS. Devil Trigger helps shorten these drawn-out encounters significantly.

Devil May Cry 3 – High Skill, High Reward Combat
DMC3 is widely considered the hardest and most technical game in the trilogy. Bosses are designed to punish mistakes but reward mastery of style switching, combos, and timing.

⚔️ Vergil (multiple encounters)
Vergil is one of the most iconic rival fights in gaming. The key is patience and observation. He mirrors your aggression—if you rush, you lose.

Stay close, but not too aggressive
Dodge after his Yamato combo strings
Punish recovery frames immediately
In later fights, expect Devil Trigger regeneration and enhanced speed

The fight is essentially a duel of discipline rather than raw damage.

🐍 Beowulf

Beowulf relies on powerful but slow attacks. The safest strategy is circling and punishing after his heavy slams. His charge attacks are highly punishable if dodged correctly.

🐍 Leviathan Heart

This boss is more about environmental awareness. Moving between platforms and avoiding internal organ attacks is essential. Use ranged attacks when safe, and melee only when openings are guaranteed.

🐙 Gigapede

A mobility-heavy fight. Staying on the move is mandatory. Use firearms while waiting for predictable movement cycles. Standing still often results in heavy damage or stun-lock situations.

🔥 Arkham (Final Form)

Arkham is chaotic and unpredictable. The fight becomes much easier if you focus on consistent damage rather than flashy combos. When Vergil joins the battle, coordination between offense and evasion becomes crucial. Avoid tunnel vision and always track both targets.

⚔️ Vergil Final Battle
The final Vergil fight is the ultimate test of everything learned in DMC3. He is faster, more aggressive, and punishes every mistake.

The winning strategy is:

Stay calm under pressure
  • Learn his teleport timing
  • Use short, controlled combos
  • Never overextend attacks

This is less of a boss fight and more of a duel between equals.

🧠 Final Thoughts

Across all three games, Devil May Cry bosses are designed around one core idea: mastery over brute force. Whether it’s the calculated patience of DMC1, the simplicity of DMC2, or the technical intensity of DMC3, success always comes from learning patterns, controlling distance, and maintaining composure under pressure.

True skill in Devil May Cry is not just defeating bosses—but doing it stylishly.

Bloody Palace👑
The Bloody Palace mode was added in Devil May Cry 3: Special Edition, but was not present in the original release. It is unlocked after completing the game once. Completing the mode with either character unlocks the "Super Costume" for that character (this is an alternative way of unlocking the Super Costume, as opposed to completing the game on "Very Hard" mode). The Palace has 10000 levels (floors)—starting with 0 and ending with 9999, the final level being the final battle with Vergil—with an additional boss fight loaded for every ten floors visited. After passing one level, the player is given 3 portals to choose from:

Local Co-op (Nintendo Switch version)
  • The Water Portal - The Water Portal advances 1 level and grants a free Green Orb.
  • The Lightning Portal - The Lightning Portal advances 10 levels and gives a free White Orb.
  • The Fire Portal - The Fire Portal advances 100 levels with no free reward.

Devil May Cry 3 for Nintendo Switch features an additional local co-op mode for Bloody Palace. This platform exclusive feature allows two players to challenge the mode together as Dante and Vergil on one console. Bloody Palace is unlocked by default in this version. Players can immediately access it at the intro mission by quitting said mission and selecting the mode on the mission selection screen.
When selecting the BP mode player has the choice to play it solo or co-op. Then players would have to press L+R on their controllers for confirmation (single Joy-Con, double Joy-Con, and Pro Controllers are supported in any combination), and select an existing save data for the other player character. After that characters' current best results in BP are displayed and players can customize their controller setups for each character.

On the levels characters' game interfaces displayed separately—P1 on the left, P2 on the right—they share the Stylish gauge, however. On normal levels players share the screen with game camera zooming in and out to keep the characters in view. For boss fights though split screen is used—upper and lower halves of the screen for P1 and P2 respectively. If a player character dies on the level, they can still be revived on the next one provided the other one survives.

Devil May Cry 3 – Bloody Palace Mode Overview
Bloody Palace is one of the most challenging and rewarding game modes in Devil May Cry 3, designed to test a player’s true mastery of the combat system. Unlike the main story, this mode focuses entirely on continuous combat, throwing players into an intense survival gauntlet filled with waves of increasingly difficult enemies.
The mode consists of 9,999 levels, where each floor presents a new battle scenario. Players must fight through groups of enemies without the support of story progression, relying purely on their skill, reflexes, and understanding of the game’s mechanics. As you descend deeper into the Bloody Palace, enemies become stronger, more aggressive, and more varied, requiring better strategy and adaptability.
Every set of floors offers players a choice between different portals, each leading to a varying number of levels. This adds a layer of strategy, as players can choose faster progression or safer routes depending on their confidence and playstyle. Health management becomes crucial, since survival depends on avoiding damage and maintaining control during chaotic encounters.

Boss fights also appear at certain intervals, testing your ability to handle high-pressure situations. These encounters demand precise timing, strong combo execution, and effective use of weapons, styles, and Devil Trigger. Mastering these elements is essential to progress further.
Bloody Palace is not just about survival—it’s about style. Maintaining high Stylish ranks while fighting efficiently is key to fully experiencing the mode. Players who can chain combos, switch weapons fluidly, and avoid taking damage will find the mode both satisfying and addictive.Overall, Bloody Palace in Devil May Cry 3 is the ultimate test of endurance and skill. It offers endless replayability and serves as the perfect challenge for players who want to push their abilities to the limit and truly master the art of stylish combat. 🔥🎮

Taste The Blood🩸
"Taste The Blood" (named "Battle-1 (Battle Music 1)" on the Original Soundtrack (Disc 1, Track 07) and "Out of My Way" on the Sound DVD Book (Track 03)) is a battle theme from Devil May Cry 3: Dante's Awakening, which is played during fights with lesser demons from Missions 2 to 13. In Mission 1, the battle theme that plays is "Dante's Office 7 Hells Battle" and in all remaining missions is "Divine Hate". After obtaining Nevan, Dante plays the first three verses of this song on it. The track was composed by Tetsuya Shibata, as well as written/performed by Shawn "Shootie HG" McPherson of Hostile Groove.
“Taste the Blood” – Legendary Soundtrack 🔥
“Taste the Blood” is one of the most iconic and unforgettable tracks in Devil May Cry 3. This song perfectly captures the raw intensity, aggression, and stylish energy that defines the game’s combat. From the very first beat, it sets the tone for fast-paced action, pushing players to fight harder, move faster, and maintain that signature SSS rank style.

What makes this track truly special is how well it blends heavy rock elements with the adrenaline of gameplay. The music doesn’t just play in the background—it becomes a part of the experience. Every combo, every dodge, and every strike feels more powerful with this soundtrack driving the momentum forward.

For many fans, “Taste the Blood” is more than just a song—it’s a symbol of what makes Devil May Cry 3 so memorable. It represents the thrill of battle, the satisfaction of mastering the combat system, and the unique identity of the series. Whether you’re facing waves of enemies or pushing your limits in Bloody Palace, this track elevates every moment.

Even years after its release, “Taste the Blood” remains a fan-favorite and a defining piece of the Devil May Cry legacy. It’s the kind of song that stays with you, reminding you why this game is considered a masterpiece of stylish action. Turn up the volume, jump into the fight, and embrace the chaos. 🔥

Lyrics;
The flinch in your eye calls your bluff,
Feel free to die when you've had enough,
Useless cause is breaking your back,
Your life will end, when you attack,

Make your move,
Make your stand,
Make the win,
(ha..) Like you can,

See the war,
See me rule,
See the mirror,
You'll see a fool,

To take me out, you must fight like a man,
(To take me out you must fight like a man)
You've yet to prove that you can,(You’ve yet to prove me that you can)
I see your might and it compares to something,
(I see your might and it compares to something)
That is, if something is nothing,
(That is if something is nothing)

Time to figure,
Time to sin,
Your time's done,
When you begin,

Live for suffer,
Live for revenge,
Now your life,
Comes to an end,
Taste the blood,
Taste your fate,
Swallow your pride,
With your hate,

Your last breath,
Your last stance,
The last of all,
In your command,

Knee's in the blood with your crying pleas,
Wade in your sorrow, bathe in your fear,
Clear the mind of the righteousness suffered,
Witness the moment of your failure's prosper!

Awards🏆
Devil May Cry HD Collection – Awards & Recognition 🏆
The Devil May Cry HD Collection has received strong recognition from both critics and the gaming community. It is widely praised for bringing the classic trilogy back with improved visuals, smooth performance, and timeless gameplay that still feels exciting today.

Across the series, the collection is often highlighted for its stylish combat system, high replay value, and the unforgettable introduction to Dante’s legendary journey. Fans especially appreciate how it preserves the original atmosphere while making the experience more accessible on modern platforms.

Although it’s a remastered collection, it continues to stand out as one of the most iconic action game compilations, earning appreciation as a must-play title for both newcomers and long-time fans of the series. 🔥🎮

Below is the list of achievements.
Weapons I🔱
Rebellion
Rebellion is Dante's trademark dark-forged greatsword. It is introduced in Devil May Cry 2 and appears throughout the series. It is one of the three legendary swords created alongside the Sparda and Yamato when the Dark Knight Sparda split his power into three pieces, and was named by him to embody "retaliation".To complement the Yamato, which can separate man from devil, the Rebellion can instead unite the two forces.

Rebellion was eventually given to Dante as a keepsake from his father, and it was served as a catalyst that awakened his Devil Trigger power. The blade's power originally laid dormant, but through contact with Dante's blood, it was awakened, culminating in him using its intrinsic function to fully unite his human and demon halves, reforging the blade into the Devil Sword Dante.

Rebellion is a massive greatsword with a heavy double-edged blade, notched on both sides near the tip. In its dormant form, the pommel is a single spike, but after awakening, it splits open into several. The grip is plain, but the guard is skeletal, with a skull-design on each side leading to the rib cage from which the blade emerges; on one side of the blade, the skull is that of a human, while the other uses a horned demon skull. Initially, the crossguard is folded in against the ribs, but it extends and the skull transforms into a screaming skull once the sword is awakened by Dante's blood.

In Devil May Cry 5, Rebellion received a slight redesign. The grip has an interwoven pattern. The quillons are smaller and have a slight curve to them. The skull and quillions both have swirling patterns on them, and the skull on the "demon" side now has horns coming out of its eye sockets. The ribcage is now just a raised addition to the blade rather than surrounding it, with the blade going all the way back to the guard. The blade also has swirling patterns reminiscent of pattern-welded "Damascus" steel, with the pattern darker and more noticeable on the "demon" side, and has a slight rainbow-colored sheen to it.

Powers:
Rebellion is a remarkably powerful magical sword. It is sharp enough to pierce the surface of the Savior's body while it is powered by the Sparda. It is also one of the most durable objects in the series, capable of withstanding hits from the space-cutting blade Yamato, as well as a direct punch from the Savior. Despite its durability, the blade was unable to survive against a solid blow from Urizen, and the blade was shattered, with only the hilt and guard remaining intact.

Rebellion is awakened by Dante's blood, however, Dante's own latent power must be active for the blood to have an effect. In the manga, Dante's latent demonic powers became temporarily active and his blood transformed Rebellion, but when Dante's powers became dormant again, Rebellion became dormant as well.

In Devil May Cry 5, Dante deduced that Rebellion had an ability to complement that of Yamato. While Yamato could separate a person's mortal and demonic sides, the Rebellion can instead unify them. Dante exploited this ability by willingly impaling himself on the sword, fusing the Rebellion, and Sparda into the Devil Sword Dante and simultaneously unlocking his Sin Devil Trigger.

Cerberus
The Cerberus is a tripartite nunchaku Devil Arm appearing in Devil May Cry 3: Dante's Awakening which originates from Cerberus. It can stretch to incredible lengths, and is infused with the power of ice, making its technique "icy-cool to the core". It is wielded by Dante during the course of the game.
In Devil May Cry 5: Before the Nightmare, Balrog completely destroyed Cerberus with one solid blow.
https://youtu.be/v3ON-ssArp8?si=z7nTVseLm6u8si5C

Appearance and Description:
Cerberus is a triple nunchaku based on the sanhokon. In its ethereal form like other Devil Arms, it is a ball of blue light. However, in its material form, it manifests as three rods connected to a ring by chains, effectively making a three-part nunchaku. The ring and chains are black, while the rods are icy blue with three pick-like points at the end of each rod.

In combat, the nunchaku emit vapor and can create large chunks of ice. The chains will extend with certain moves and attacks. As shown when Dante caught Lady's motorcycle, the chains can extend long distances.

Agni & Rudra

Agni & Rudra, also known collectively as Firestorm, are a pair of living, twin demon swords sealed away by Sparda himself in Temen-ni-gru.They are the bosses of Mission 5 in Devil May Cry 3: Dante's Awakening. After their defeat, they're playable as weapons to Dante.

Appearance:
Both swords possess the same design, being wide, curved blades resembling the classic fictional depiction of an Arabian scimitar or pirate cutlass. However, Agni and Rudra, rather than being plain blades, are comprised of a curved support to which a series of backward-pointed segments each with its own rear-sloping cutting edge are fixed, forming a vicious serrated design that is somewhat reminiscent of a spinal cord. They are colored for their respective element, Agni orange for fire and Rudra turquoise for wind, though on both the cutting edges of the blade segments are bare metal and the guard, grip and pommel gold. The talking heads are mounted in the ends of the pommels of the two swords, and the guards of both are round and plain.
https://youtu.be/9KfaSoTjd-U?si=7zAmWxDev7WT9aTR
Powers and Abilities
Agni and Rudra have the power of fire and wind, respectively. They generally fight together as a team and use powerful, single strike attacks. While separate, they will both imbue their blades with their respective elements to augment their attacks. If one host should die in combat, Agni and Rudra will be dual wielded by one host, with the original owner of the host body taking control and using the other to augment their own abilities.

Agni has a Crawler-like ability that will send flames along the ground in a straight line. While in control of both blades, Agni will use a wind-only Twister-like ability while simultaneously launching a Crawler attack. He will also swing the blades, sending fire around his general area.

Rudra uses a Twister-like ability to create a tornado around himself. While in control of both blades, Rudra will also use the Twister-Crawler attack. He has a long range technique where he throws wind and fire blades at the player.

Weapons II🔱
Nevan (Devil Arm)
Nevan is a curious, guitar-like Devil Arm appearing in Devil May Cry 3 which originates from Nevan the Lightning Witch. Dante can control powerful electricity and bloodthirsty bats by jamming on Nevan, and its sickle attack is deadly. It is described as being "charged from the heavens"
Appearance and Description:
Nevan consists of two forms in one. It is a purple, one neck guitar with many electric strings and some skeletal-looking features. It hides or cloaks a three pronged scythe underneath, which is basically folded into it (The scythe itself can also fold backwards, as seen when Dante performs "Distortion"). Also, it can use a pack of bats and electricity that will support the guitar, either firing off as a similar function to mid-ranged bullets, or in defensive purposes surround as a protective wall for the user.
Gameplay:
Nevan plays completely different than any other Devil Arm in Dante's arsenal as it is quite complex and methodical to use in battle, requiring a plethora of skill and understanding of its mechanics to use properly.

For Starters, compared to other weapons in the series, Nevan does not have a 2D sense of attack (forward, back, neutral) like Dante's classic Rebellion, but a 3D sense of attack, which also includes "left" and "right" leaning attacks of where Dante is facing and which side the stick is while locked on.

Rather than physically attack outright, Nevan's main feature is to summon multiple projectiles, and to boast attacks with wide fields of effect, making it a mix between a projectile and a melee weapon. These attacks by Nevan are intricate and consist of two unique types: "Playing Attacks," and "Regular Attacks."
https://youtu.be/8TnDat4S-Ko?si=tfB24w8xMlbHfs7G
"Playing Attacks" are performed by playing Nevan's strings, utilizing performance to generate electricity and summon bats. The execution methods vary, normal ground based attacks requires Dante to setup and play to charge, requiring a small delay for startup and a need for space before enemies can attack, with others executing instantaneously.
When Dante plays a riff, bats are gradually summoned around him as a cluster field. As the numbers of bats grow, the field can also act as a defensive surrounding, able to fend off Enigma arrows and overwhelm any targets that come near him. When the riff completes, the bats will move directly towards the nearest or directed target, acting as a head on barrage or a wide spread swarm.
Every end chord that Dante plays generates a sound blast, which distorts the space around him, and will inflict damage on opponents within range. For most attacks, like "Nevan Combo I & II" and "Reverb Shock," the sound blast is extremely focused and secondarily releases the bats to attack the opponent. Other attacks like "Nevan Combo III," "Jam Session," and "Crazy Roll," will devastate opponents all around Dante. Some attacks, such as "Bat Riff", do not have en end chord.Regular Attacks are straightforward, dealing damage with the weapon itself. Attacks such as "Tune-up," "Slash," and "Feedback" are examples of such attacks; in addition, all boast wide ranges that will target multiple close targets at once, and deal moderately high damage.
While Nevan's attacks are potentially damaging, summoned bats do not boast much stopping power alone, requiring full power through focused barrages. Any sort of true melee and stopping power is only found in the sound blast fields and physical attacks. While Nevan's scythe based attacks are deadly to its namesake, such heavy hitting capabilities near and far only come through when nearly all abilities from the Goddess Statues are purchased, the Swordmaster Style is selected, and use of the style is mastered.

Because of its limited capabilities for chaining direct melee damage and limitations by Styles and Abilities, it is difficult to raise the Stylish Rank with the Nevan on Combat Adjudicators on its most minimal settings, which makes it boast lower Style rankings than Adjudicators for Dante's other weapons. In actual battle, the weapon works as a ranged crowd control weapon, heavy hitter, and gradual destroyer of many speeds, with its bat swarms responsible for chaining to the Stylish Rank and direct melee hits adding bigger boosts in return.

Nevan works really well with Royalguard style. Since you can chain multiple Reverb Shocks by blocking immediately after the guitar sound. Thus canceling its cooldown. At level 2 it can result in one of the highest DPS in the game, easily taking down lesser demons in Dante Must Die difficulty.

Also, Nevan's Devil Trigger Side-effect dramatically boosts your health regeneration, filling up to 1/4 of a Maxed-out health bar. (1/2 of a regular health bar)

Beowulf (Devil Arm)
Beowulf is a set of flash gauntlets and greaves Devil Arm appearing in Devil May Cry 3 which originates from Beowulf. It is wielded by both Vergil and Dante during the course of the game. Dante can acquire the weapon in Mission 14, while Vergil starts the game with this Devil Arm in his mode of Devil May Cry 3: Special Edition, Devil May Cry 4: Special Edition, and Devil May Cry 5 and Special Edition.
Appearance and Description:
Beowulf is a set of black gauntlets and greaves with a somewhat animalistic look. The gauntlets vaguely resemble a wolf's head, with fangs and mane. The greaves look like clawed legs. They also have glowing veins that have white light flowing through them.

As they are "blessed with the sacred light," all of Beowulf emits light with each punch and kick. They are capable of concentrating light into a ball and throwing it or erupting it from the user's body. It can also cover the user in light.
https://youtu.be/1zLocLpHIIk?si=v-HczOCGIfDDmXWa
⚔️ Weapon Style

Beowulf transforms Dante’s combat into a more brutal martial arts-based fighting style. It replaces quick slashes with heavy punches, kicks, and charged attacks that deal massive damage when timed correctly.

It is slower compared to other Devil Arms, but in exchange it delivers some of the highest single-hit damage in the game.

💀 Strengths & Weaknesses
Strengths:
  • Extremely high damage per hit
  • Great for finishing enemies quickly
  • Strong stun capability
Weaknesses:
  • Slow attack speed
  • Limited range
  • Requires good timing and positioning

Weapons III🔱
Ebony & Ivory
Ebony & Ivory are Dante's trademark pair of personally customized, semi-automatic pistols, designed to rapidly fire bullets instilled with his demonic power, and are one of the several firearms to appear in every Devil May Cry game series. The left-handed black gun, Ebony, has been modified for long-distance targeting and comfort, while the right-handed white gun, Ivory, was custom built for rapid firing and fast draw times.
Design:
Ebony & Ivory are both M1911-style handguns chambered for the .45 ACP round, and boast a plethora of customized features:

  • Both pistols have been modified with pivot-style triggers as opposed to the 1911's usual straight-pull trigger, this modification resembles the Browning Hi-Power pistol.
  • Both feature custom sight systems; Ebony uses a set of target sights, while Ivory uses a pair of combat sights
  • Both feature ported muzzle compensators that reduce recoil and counteract muzzle flip. Both barrels are extended through the compensators and are ported to match the cuts in the compensators.
  • Both use custom slides that have been noticeably thickened and reinforced along the slide travel rails and around the chamber and firing mechanism. The result is a slide that bears a resemblance to SIG-Sauer's M1911 line.
  • Rails have been bolted to the forward portion of both frames. These rails are used to hold the compensators in place.
  • Both guns feature slam-pads
  • Both have gold-plated magazine releases, hammers, safety switches and triggers.
  • Ebony features a hooked, two-handed trigger-guard, while Ivory uses a more traditional rounded trigger-guard.
  • Both weapons use ergonomic wood grips which are inlaid with portraits of Victorian women; as befits their names, Ebony's is dark-haired, and Ivory's is fair-haired.
  • Ebony's ejection port is located on the left side of the weapon, as opposed to the right side (as Ebony is meant to be used left-handed, this causes spent brass to be ejected away from Dante.)
  • Both weapons have an outside extractor, resembling Browning Hi-Power pistols.
  • In addition, several customized features are inconsistent between the various games:
  • In the original Devil May Cry, Ebony utilizes an extended thumb safety and a spur hammer. Ivory uses a standard length safety and a ring hammer. In other incarnations, both feature spur hammers and standard length safeties, save for Devil May Cry 5 where the two have different hammers but the same standard-length safety.
  • For Devil May Cry 3 and Devil May Cry 5, Ivory's frame and slide are both completely left-handed, with all of the controls being mirrored from their normal positions.

The inward-facing side of each weapon's slide (Ebony's right and Ivory's left) is engraved with "Ebony & Ivory" in a cursive script along with the unique design of piano keys, further alluding to its name. The outward facing sides (Ebony's left and Ivory's right) are engraved with a dedication to Dante which is explained in the Devil May Cry novel to be from Nell Goldstein:

For Tony Redgrave
By .45 Art Warks
Oddly enough, this engraving also appears on Luce & Ombra, a similar set of pistols belonging to Dante's father and used by Trish which Ebony & Ivory are modeled after.

Hideaki Itsuno has mentioned on twitter that engravings on Ebony & Ivory were wrong and in Devil May Cry 5 it has been corrected to:

For Tony
By .45 Art Works
The model used for the Ivory within Devil May Cry 3: Dante's Awakening gameplay is simply a recolored copy of that used for the Ebony. The spent shells still behave as though the ejection port is pointed outward, appearing out of thin air above the gun and falling to Dante's right side. Dante tends to cross the guns when firing them.Redgrave
On the grips of both Ebony & Ivory, a portrait of the gunsmith who made the guns, Nell Goldstein, can be found.
Shotgun
The Shotgun, known as the Coyote-A in later games, is a hunting firearm that fires buckshot across a wide area[1][2], making it very powerful at close range.Like Ebony & Ivory, the Shotgun retains the same functionality throughout all of its appearances, despite being a different entity in each game.
Description:
All incarnations of the Shotgun and Coyote-A are double-barrel sawed-off break-open shotguns with wooden furnishings, with a prominent curve to the grip. Throughout the first three games the weapon is not noted to be anything more than a mundane cut-down hunting shotgun with decorative engraving on the metal components: the only unusual feature is a projection in front of the trigger that resembles the fixed magazines of some bolt-action rifles such as the Lee-Enfield and Mosin-Nagant. It is unclear whether this is supposed to be a functional part of the weapon. They are a single-trigger type, firing both barrels at once.

Starting with Devil May Cry 4 Dante switches to using a more distinctive, heavily customized shotgun called Coyote-A. Unlike the shotguns of previous games, Coyote-A is clearly not a normal manual breech-loader: rather, it has two small detachable magazines located just behind the break-open hinge, and a reciprocating bolt handle on top of the rear section resembling that of an older-model Thompson SMG. The Devil May Cry 4 concept art implies that this functions by a linked double bolt being forced back during firing and locking in the rearward position, the gun being broken open to eject the fired cartridges, and on closing, the bolt being released to chamber fresh shells in both barrels.
Weapons IV🔱
Artemis
The Artemis is a demonic gun created by the demonic gunsmith Machiavelli which fires arrows imbued with demonic energy. It has the ability to fire multiple shots at either one or many enemies at a time.[2] Its shots are able to stun most enemies, and its slow reload time can be overcome by using multi-locked shots. Upgrading it raises its max number of lock-on targets.
Appearance:
Artemis initially appears as an idol in a tall stone statue and was worshipped as a goddess. At its base is a pedestal with three slots for the Essences. On top of the base are four rhombi that accordion into another. The last, top rhombus holds Artemis itself.

Artemis is a silver, crossbow-like weapon of demonic origin. Despite this, it has a very angelic look. Above its barrel is a face with yellow eyes and helmet-like panel. A pair of arms cross in front of the barrel from its sides. Behind the arms are wing designed panels. On the back is a long tail that extends over its users elbow. Artemis is adorned with purple jewels and all of the panels can open and rotate.
Story:
Before Devil May Cry 3: Dante's Awakening
Artemis was first created as a Devil Arm by the legendary demon gunsmith Machiavelli.

Devil May Cry 3: Dante's Awakening
Artemis is first found by Dante while climbing Temen-ni-gru. After he activates it to clear out a collapse, by overcoming the Trials of Warrior, Skill, and Wisdom, he takes it for himself.

Devil May Cry 5: Before the Nightmare
Trish uses the Devil Arm in her and Lady's battle against the demon king Urizen, hoping to use its multi-hitting projectiles to overwhelm Urizen's defenses. Unfortunately, this tactic failed and both female devil hunters are defeated and captured.

Artemis (Demon)
Description:
Artemis is an angelic looking demon with scaly skin. Its body is similar to that of a mermaid, with a humanoid upper body and a piscine lower half. It has six wing-like limbs that each have a series of glowing purple eyes on them. Two wings are held over its head, two are stretched out to the side and the last two cover its body. The lower half of its head resembles a woman's, but the upper half is composed of several clawed appendages that clench together to resemble a bandaged cranium.

Spiral

Spiral is a large caliber rifle which appears in Devil May Cry 3: Dante's Awakening. It fires high penetration-type bullets.[1] Its long reload time can be circumvented by quickly switching guns between shots. Upgrading it raises its max firepower.[2]

Spiral is found in the Subterranean Lake area during Mission 9: Faded Memories of Dante's scenario. It is placed upon an inert altar, located on one of the ruined balconies. If the player fails to pick it up in this mission, it can be found again in the same location during Mission 14: Drive!.
Gameplay:
Compared to other firearms in Devil May Cry 3, Spiral is a gun of extremes. Its high-penetration bullets are designed to deal high damage to stagger foes, penetrate their defences, and ricochet. Spiral is Dante's most accurate gun, best suited for long-range combat. The shells easily penetrate demons, and may hit multiple of them in succession if they are lined up in a row. Spiral shots are powerful enough to cause visible sonic booms of large size, distorting air around the muzzle.

Spiral's size limits Dante's mobility however, and it cannot be used mid-air. Spiral's recoil will also push Dante backwards a little with every shot, and limits its rate of fire considerably (various cancel techniques can be used to remedy the low rate of fire, e.g. weapon switching with Ebony and Ivory). Spiral's bullets travel at unusually low velocity, so keep that in mind when engaging far-away foes.

Gunslinger gives Spiral increased flexibility, enhancing its long range and crowd-control effectiveness. Trickshot fires a richocheting shell that will hit any enemies nearby (mash Button ps4 circle to increase the number of richochets, and thus hits). Sniper is one of the most powerful Gunslinger attacks - rivaling Shotgun's Gun Stinger in damage - but requires a moment to execute. Sniper's Crazy Combo Ricochet will cause the Sniper shot to also rebound within the victim, and causing damage to anything close by as well.

Kalina Ann
The Kalina Ann is Lady's trademark rocket launcher, and appears in Devil May Cry 3, Devil May Cry: The Animated Series, Devil May Cry 4 and Devil May Cry 5. It has the name of Lady's mother etched into the handle, and the bayonet attached to it can be used as a grappling hook or a close-quarters weapon.[1]
In Devil May Cry 3, Lady lends the Kalina Ann to Dante after their fight in The Divine Library. She asks him to use this to "free" her father. Later, when Dante returns from the Demon World, he returns it to her. Oddly, if Dante had the Kalina Ann equipped during the Final Boss battle, he can still use it during the playable credits despite Lady visibly wielding it alongside him.

In Devil May Cry 5, Lady loses her Kalina Ann after the fight with Urizen. However, Nico built the Kalina Ann II for her as a replacement and she paid for it, but this new weapon is eventually given to Dante.

Appearance and Description:
Kalina Ann is named after Lady's mother, and has her name etched in the handle. It is a black rocket launcher with a long, serrated bayonet attached to it. The bayonet can be completely removed as necessary, as seen in the anime episode "Rolling Thunder", doing so however negates the weapon's grappling capabilities as the serrated blade doubles as a hook. On its back handle end, Kalina Ann features a missile battery that holds a salvo of micro missiles with built in homing capabilities in the case of being surrounded by multiple enemies. The support handle has a second trigger for operating the grapple mechanism.

Kalina Ann can fire a variety of projectiles, including mini missiles, rockets, and homing rockets. It is capable targeting multiple enemies or multiple locations on one enemy. The banyonet can be launched and retracted via a wire and can be used as a grapple in combat or for traversal. In close quarters, the bayonet serves as a melee weapon.

Weapons V🔱
Kalina Ann II
Kalina Ann II is one of Dante's weapons in Devil May Cry 5. It was created by Nico for Lady to replace the original, but was later given to Dante.
Description:
After the original Kalina Ann was lost after the first battle with Urizen, Nico made this replacement. It is basically identical to the original weapon, but with the ability to dock with the original Kalina Ann for a more powerful attack.

While Kalina Ann is based mostly on an M20 "Super Bazooka," Kalina Ann II's redesign is more reminiscent of a Carl Gustav recoilless rifle, in particular the new carry handle design.

Gameplay:
Kalina Ann II is acquired automatically at the start of Mission 18. It features an identical moveset to the regular Kalina Ann, with the only real difference coming about if Dante possesses both weapons at the same time: in that case, he can equip them as Double Kalina Ann.

Double Kalina Ann
Double Kalina Ann is a secret weapon in Devil May Cry 5 used by Dante, created via combining Kalina Ann and Kalina Ann II.
Description:
When Double Kalina Ann is equipped, Dante holds Kalina Ann in his right hand and Kalina Ann II in his left. His basic fire has him alternating which launcher he fires, while in his other moves he fires both at once. Double Kalina Ann also allows Dante to make use of the "something extra" that Nico mentions in the description of Kalina Ann II: namely, the weapon's ability to attach to the front of the original, with the combined weapons able to fire a powerful energy beam.

Gameplay:
Double Kalina Ann will be acquired by Dante if the player has both individual launchers. Lady's Kalina Ann can be obtained two ways, the first is hidden in a side area of Mission 11. and the second is in Mission 10 during the boss fight with Urizen in the left side of the arena. If the player has this, Double Kalina Ann unlocks when Dante gets Kalina Ann II at the start of Mission 18: if they missed Kalina Ann, they will unlock Double Kalina Ann on replaying Mission 10 or Mission 11 and picking it up.

Double Kalina Ann is an extremely useful upgrade to either of the single weapons, improving fire rate and increasing the power of Gunslinger Style moves. The "High Explosive" move cannot be performed, but in its place Dante gets a new move, Cascade, which fires a powerful laser beam that knocks enemies high into the air.

Gunslinger moves are powered up as one would expect: Multiple Twins fires more homing missiles than Multiple, and Hysteric Twins more micro-missiles than Hysteric. Blaster Twins fires rockets both up and down, and is very powerful if Dante can position himself close enough that both rockets strike the same enemy: it is particularly good as a follow-up to an Air Trick or a knock-to-ground move like the last hit of Balrog's air combo.

Mega Cascade is a long-duration, powered up Cascade which deals constant hits. Using it will switch to an over-shoulder view like Nero's Gerbera ground Break Age and Tomboy combined with Blue Rose, and the player can use the movement stick to control the aim point of the beam to an extent. If left alone the aim point will wander randomly, so corrections are required to keep it on target. As with Gerbera's move, Mega Cascade's aiming controls do not change if the camera's vertical setting is inverted.

The Double Kalina Ann also has an additional undocumented move. If the player holds the Gunslinger Style button (D-pad left by default), after a short time Dante will stab Kalina Ann II's bayonet into the ground and switch to just using Kalina Ann. The Kalina Ann II can be picked up again by walking near it.

Normally, as with Rebellion, Sparda and Devil Sword Dante, the player has to choose whether to equip Kalina Ann, Kalina Ann II or Double Kalina Ann at the store menu, and cannot swap them out during gameplay. However, with Dante's "Irregular Full Custom" ability unlocked after defeating Son of Sparda difficulty, the player can choose to assign equip slots to all three at once. Given the undocumented move, however, there is no real benefit to doing so.

Costumes [DANTE]💖
The Devil May Cry series features bonus Costumes that change the appearance of a character. Usually, changing costumes also offers some changes in gameplay.
At the Title Screen, hold R1 + R2 + L1 + L2 + D-pad Up+Left + Left Analog-stick Down+Right until "Devil May Cry" (like when beginning a new save file) is heard. This will unlock all bonus modes, alternate costumes, and gallery entries. However, in the HD collection and Switch version, this will disable saving, loading, and leaderboard scoring.

Dante - The default costume.
Shirtless Dante
- Dante's appearance in the first mission, without his jacket. Unlocked after finishing Easy or Normal Mode.
DMC1 Dante
- Dante's outfit from Devil May Cry. Dante assumes Sparda's devil form while in DT and Rebellion is replaced with Force Edge. Unlocked after finishing Normal Mode.
Coatless DMC1 Dante - An earlier version of the Dante character model for Devil May Cry without his coat. Unlocked after finishing Hard Mode.
The Legendary Dark Knight
-Dante takes on the form of his father, the Legendary Dark Knight Sparda. As with "DMC1 Dante", Sparda wields Force Edge. In addition, his shadow graphic is that of Sparda instead of his human form. Unlocked after finishing Hard Mode.
Super Dante
- With this costume, the player is granted semi-unlimited DT. While the Devil Trigger gauge does not deplete over time, DT consumptive techniques such as DT Explosion will decrease the gauge. In the original release for PS2, the Quicksilver and Doppelganger styles do not consume the gauge either, though this was changed in the Special Edition release. In addition, Dante's health will not regenerate while DT is active when this costume is used. In Special Edition it is unlocked after finishing Very Hard Mode or Bloody Palace.
Super Legendary Dark Knight
- Special Edition only. Variant of the Sparda costume with unlimited DT. Unlike Super Dante (original edition), DT in this costume allows Vitality to regenerate as well as infinite usage of DT consumptive techniques. Unlocked after finishing Dante Must Die Mode in Special Edition.
Costumes II [VERGIL]💙
Vergil is only playable in the Special Edition.
Vergil - Vergil's default costume.
Coatless Vergil
-Without his coat, Vergil shows his arms and his black shirt. Unlocked after finishing Easy or Normal Mode.
Corrupt Vergil
-A costume representing Vergil when he was under the control of Mundus. He looks similar to his default costume except that his skin tone is whitish and his coat is purple, imitating his father's human form. In DT, he takes on the appearance of Nelo Angelo, and his entire movelist is switched to moves Nelo Angelo used in the first game, using his Greatsword and gauntlets. Unlocked after finishing Hard Mode.
Super Vergil
- This costume functions in the same way as Super Dante. Unlocked after finishing Very Hard Mode or Bloody Palace.
Super Corrupt Vergil
- Functions in the same way as Super Legendary Dark Knight. Grants health regeneration in DT and Summoned Swords techniques won't decrease the DT gauge. Unlocked after finishing Dante Must Die Mode as Vergil.
Costumes III [LADY]🤍
Lady's costume will change during her in-game appearances if Dante's "Legendary Dark Knight" or "Coatless DMC1" or Vergil's "Corrupt Vergil" or "Coatless Vergil" are being used.
Ridersuit
- Lady dons a full body white jumpsuit featuring red leather belt accessories.

Trivia☄️
In DmC: Devil May Cry, the style rank names differ from the original series, adopting a more aggressive punk tone.
Examples:

DmC: Devil May Cry → "Brutal!", "Anarchic!", "SSadistic!!"

Devil May Cry 3 → "Blast!", "Alright!", "SShowtime!!"

In both DmC: Devil May Cry and Devil May Cry 5, the soundtrack changes dynamically based on the current style rank. Interestingly, when checking the PC files of Devil May Cry 5, an unused rank below "D" (Dismal) can be found: the "E" rank, labeled "Edgelord."

In Devil May Cry 5, different characters announce the style ranks from B up to SSS. By default, a demonic voice (similar to Balrog, but confirmed to be a different character) calls them out. However, each playable character has unique announcers:

Nero and V → Nico

Dante → Morrison

Vergil → Dante

Nico’s quotes:

B: Baller! / Not bad, eh?

A: Aww yeah! / Wow!

S: Sassy! / Trippin’!

SS: Super Sexy! / Groovy, baby!

SSS: Super Sassy Sexy! / One hell of a strike!

Damage at S or higher: Told ya so! / It’ll cost ya. / Dude… are you for real? / Crap… / Dumbass! / Ew! / Loser!

Morrison’s quotes:

B: Brilliant! / Back in business!
A: All right! / You work off that debt, son!

S: Superb! / Impressive!

SS: Super skills! / Ya got mad skills!

SSS: Stunning Sublime Style, y’all! / Takin’ it to the next level!
Damage at S or higher: Embarrassing! / Ha ha! Choked! / Aww, you stink! / Disappointing. / Unbearable! / Choked! / Dumbass.
Dante’s quotes:

B: Countin’ on ya! / Finish ’em!

A: Wanna have some fun? / So fierce!
S: whistles Nice one! / Woo! Hot damn!

Devil May Cry 3 – Pilot Version Concept and Early Vision
Before Devil May Cry 3: Dante’s Awakening became the refined, iconic action masterpiece known today, the game went through an important conceptual and developmental phase often referred to by fans as its “pilot version” or early build vision. This stage of development was crucial in shaping the identity, tone, and gameplay philosophy that would later define the final release.
In its earliest design direction, the development team aimed to return the series to its roots after the controversial reception of Devil May Cry 2.

The goal was not only to improve gameplay mechanics but also to rebuild Dante’s personality, combat depth, and overall atmosphere. The pilot version emphasized a younger, more aggressive Dante, showcasing his arrogance, confidence, and rebellious nature before the events of the earlier game in the timeline.

https://www.48675488.xyz/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3621225779
One of the most significant focuses in this early stage was combat evolution. The developers experimented heavily with a more flexible style system, which would later become the defining “Style Switch” mechanic. In the pilot concepts, combat was already fast-paced, but the team was still refining how players could transition between different fighting styles.

The idea was to give players freedom of expression in combat, allowing them to create unique combos rather than relying on repetitive attack patterns.
Enemy design in the early build also reflected a darker and more oppressive atmosphere. The tower setting, later known as the iconic Temen-ni-gru, was already present in conceptual form, but its structure and pacing were still being adjusted. The developers wanted the environment to feel like a living, cursed monument—something that constantly challenges the player both visually and mechanically.

Story-wise, the pilot version placed strong emphasis on the rivalry between Dante and Vergil. While their conflict remains central in the final game, early drafts reportedly explored their psychological contrast in a more direct and intense way. Vergil was envisioned not just as a final boss figure, but as a constant narrative presence shaping Dante’s growth and decisions throughout the game.

Plot II🕹️
Another major aspect of the pilot build was experimentation with difficulty balancing. The team wanted to create a game that punished careless play but rewarded mastery. This led to early versions of the ranking system, encouraging stylish combat performance and discouraging repetitive button-mashing. This idea eventually evolved into the iconic “Stylish Rank” system that defines the series.
Although many of the raw ideas from the pilot version were refined or reworked, their core philosophy survived intact. The final version of Devil May Cry 3 became a perfect balance of challenge, style, and storytelling, and is now widely considered one of the greatest action games ever made.

In hindsight, the pilot version represents an important creative foundation. It was not just an unfinished stage, but a laboratory of ideas where the identity of Devil May Cry 3 was forged.

Without that experimental phase, the final experience of Dante’s awakening might never have reached its legendary status.
